Premier women
The St. Albert Impact are represented by three teams in the premier women’s division for the second consecutive outdoor season in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.Impact 1 (Spaidal), Impact 2 (Bourbonnais/Brown) and Impact 3 (Murphy) are among 10 teams competing in premier.
The first match for Impact 1 is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against Wind at ESA Complex.
Last year Impact 1 finished third at 13-4-1 for 40 points and was plus 31 in goals for/against.
Casey Paplawski scored a team-high 11 goals, followed by Brittany Kindzierski with eight, and seven for Jazmyne Mauthe.
Impact 2 makes its season debut May 6 against Victoria at 6 p.m. at ESA Complex.
Impact 2 shared fourth place last year with a record of 9-5-4 for 31 points and was plus 16 offensively.
Isabelle Dobbin was the team leader in goals with 11 and Alana Mawhinney netted 10.
Impact 3 also kicks into action May 6 against Angels Scottish SC at 4 p.m. at ESA Complex.
Seventh place was the order of finish for Impact 3 last year at 6-10-2 for 20 points and was a minus 31 scoring-wise.
Impact 4 women
The division 1A season opener for St. Albert Impact 4 (Murphy) is May 5 in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.Kickoff is 2 p.m. against the Edmonton Warriors at ESA Complex.
Impact 4 is coming off a sixth-place showing at 3-8-3 for 12 points with a minus six goals for/against mark in the eight-team women's division.
Rangers soccer
The first division 1A match of the season for the St. Albert Rangers is May 7 against FC Fizi.Kickoff is 6:30 at ESA South Complex.
Last year’s Rangers paced fourth out of eight teams at 7-3-4 for 25 points and was plus 17 offensively.
Will Backhouse and Noah Boyko were the top two Rangers in scoring with 10 and nine goals, respectively.
This is the second full season in the Edmonton District Soccer Association fixtures the Rangers will not play a home match at Riel Park.
Impact men
The division 2A men’s season starts May 8 for the St. Albert Impact.Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. against Les Gaulois at Queen Elizabeth High School.
The Impact’s record last year was 7-4-3 for 24 points.
Led by Sam Smith-Ackerl’s nine goals, the Impact’s goal differential was plus 16.
High school tilts
Larry Olexiuk Field is the venue for two metro Edmonton division two women’s matches next week involving St. Albert teams to kick off league play.Tuesday the St. Albert Skyhawks host the Edmonton Christian Lions in pool B and Thursday the Bellerose Bulldogs and Paul Kane Blues tangle in pool A. Start times are 4:15 p.m.
Last year the Skyhawks (1-3-1) and Paul Kane (1-4) qualified for the quarter-finals and Bellerose (1-3) missed the playoffs.
