Premier provincials
The four-team Alberta Soccer Association premier women’s championship kicks off at 9:15 p.m. Friday for St. Albert Impact 1 (Spaidal) against the top team in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.Northwest United (15-0-3, 62 GF/8 GA) finished two points ahead of the Impact (15-2-1, 66 GF/18 GA) after the last EDSA premier match of the season ended in a 1-1 draw Aug. 7 as the Impact missed a penalty shot on the last play.
A win would have lifted the Impact into the challenge playdown for Alberta Major Soccer League status in 2019.
The Impact also plays Calgary 1 on Saturday and Calgary 2 on Sunday, and the start times are 11:15 a.m.
Monday’s medal finals are at 1 p.m.

The Impact were led offensively this season by Sheena Tracey’s 12 goals, and 10 apiece for Brittany Kindzierski and Casey Paplawski.
Tier 1 provincials
The opening match for St. Albert Impact 4 (Murphy) at the Alberta Soccer Association Tier 1 women’s championship is at 5:45 p.m. on Friday against Calgary 1.The Impact also has matches scheduled against FC Excelsior 1 on Saturday and Calgary 2 on Sunday. Kickoff times are 4:30 p.m.
Monday’s medal finals are at 9 a.m. for bronze/fourth place and 3 p.m. for gold/silver.

FC Excelsior (11-2-1, 41 GF/17 GA) and the Impact (10-2-2, 63 GF/22 GA) are the EDSA reps at provincials after finishing first and second, respectively, in the division 1A table.
The opening round results in the provincial playdown qualifier were 1-0 for FC Excelsior against its division 1B sister team and 5-4 for the Impact against the division 1B Wind United.
Brittany Kindzierski of the Impact led all division 1A scorers with 23 goals and Kaitlyn Diduck tied for fifth with nine goals.
Tier 3 provincials
Mavericks 09 have four matches on tap this weekend at the Alberta Soccer Association Tier 3 women’s championship at ESA Complex.The five-team round robin includes three Edmonton District Soccer Association teams.
The St. Albert Women’s Soccer League reps kick into action Saturday against EDSA 1 at 10:15 a.m. and EDSA 3 at 3:15 p.m., and Sunday’s start times are 10 a.m. against EDSA 2 and 3 p.m. against Calgary.

The fourth provincial medal in six years for the Mavericks was bronze at the 2017 Tier 3 championship in Calgary.
The Mavericks were also awarded silver in 2016 and gold in 2014 in Tier 3 and Tier IV bronze in 2012.
In league play, the Mavericks are 12-0-1 (75 GF/8 GA) in the six-team division after Sunday’s 4-2 decision against the third-place Kickers (7-5-1, 43 GF/24 GA).
The Mavericks also settled for a 3-3 draw with the second-place Titans (9-3-1, 45 GF/21 GA) Aug. 19.
Natalie Miller of the Mavericks is the SAWSL leader in goals with 15 and three of her teammates – Lindsay Hornung, Chelsey Marques and Suzanne Schulz – are tied for fifth with eight apiece.
Last year’s Mavericks finished 14-0 after the Morinville Ladies forfeited the division one final when the SAWSL consisted of eight teams.
Men’s provincials
The Impact Alumni and Forest Park Rangers of St. Albert Men’s Soccer League are Tier 3 medal contenders at provincials this weekend at ESA Complex.The eight-team Alberta Soccer Association tournament starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday with the Impact Alumni playing Calgary 2 and Forest Park faces Lakeland.
The rest of the Impact Alumni pool two matches are against two Edmonton District Soccer Association teams – EDSA 1 at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and EDSA 3 at 12 p.m. Sunday.
Forest Park also lines up against Calgary at 12:15 p.m. Saturday and EDSA 2 at 2 p.m. Sunday in pool one.
The medal finals are 12:15 p.m. Monday.

The Impact Alumni (8-1-6, 51 GF/21 GA) and Forest Park (8-4-3, 45 GF/16 GA) qualified for provincials as the top two teams in the SAMSL regular season.
Last year’s Rangers failed to score a goal in three losses at Tier 3 provincials in Calgary but went on to win the two-match aggregate final against the Impact Alumni for the SAMSL playoff cup.
Terry Esposito of Forest Park and Vince Bustamante of Impact Alumni finished as this year's SAMSL’s leading scorers in the regular season with 14 and 13 goals, respectively.
