Impact 1 premier
The St. Albert Impact 1 (Spaidal) premier women’s team met its match against Northwest United in Tuesday’s loss at ESA Complex.Northwest (8-0-1, 28 GF/3 GA) opened the scoring midway through the second half on the counter off a corner kick and then with the Impact pressing potted a pair to win 3-0.
The loss ended a five-game winning streak for the Impact (6-2, 20 GF/12 GA), ranked third behind Northwest and Victoria (7-0-1, 29 GF/7 GA) in the premier table.
Sunday the Impact lines up against St. Albert Impact 3 (Murphy) at 2 p.m. at ESA Complex and Tuesday’s match against the Wind (1-7, 8 GF/32 GA) kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at Riel Park.
Impact vs. Impact
A late surge evened the score for St. Albert Impact 3 (Murphy) against St. Albert Impact 2 (Bourbonnais/Brown) in Tuesday’s premier women’s match.Impact 2 was in control at 3-1 with eight minutes remaining before Impact 3 took full advantage of two opportunities to knot the count at three apiece at Riel Park.
Impact 3 goalkeeper Renee Chattargoon made several key saves to keep the match within reach.
Beth Crothers finished with two goals and Sarah Matiello also connected for Impact 3.
Emily Cruz, the top player for Impact 2, connected passes throughout the match and scored once.
One point separates Impact 2 (3-3-2, 14 GF/11 GA) and Impact 3 (3-4-1, 16 GF/23 GA) in the premier table when the District Soccer Association teams return to the pitch Sunday. Kickoff times are 2 p.m. between Impact 3 and St. Albert Impact 1 (Spaidal) at ESA Complex and 7 p.m. for Impact 2 against Sherwood Park Phoenix (3-4-1, 20 GF/15 GA) at 7 p.m. at Millenium Place.
Tuesday’s matches are 6:30 p.m. for Impact 2 against the Victoria Soccer Club (7-0-1) and 8:15 p.m. for Impact 3 against Angels Scottish SC (3-4-1) at Riel Park.
Division 1A Impact
The St. Albert Impact 4 (Murphy) team is the winner of four in a row when Monday’s division 1A women’s match against Olympia FC kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at Riel Park.The Impact (4-1-1, 25 GF/6 GA) and FC Excelsior (4-0-1, 11GF/5 GA) are the division leaders and Olympia FC (1-3-2, 9 GF/12 GA) is sixth out of eight teams.
Last year’s Impact team finished 3-8-3 (19 GF/25 GA) in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.
Kaitlyn Diduck and Brittany Kindzierski are tied for the team lead in goals with six apiece.
Rangers match
The St. Albert Rangers are regrouping from the worst loss of the season for the division 1A men's team.The Rangers play Croatia Hajduk (2-3-1, 8 GF/10 GA) Monday at 7 p.m. at Croatia Soccer Club after going down to defeat 6-2 to the Edmonton Warriors (5-1, 19 GF/5 GA), co-leaders with Al-ikhwan/Strikers HPP (5-1, 12 GF/5 GA) in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.
Goalkeeper Zach Black of the Rangers kept the score as close as it was in the wind and rain this past Monday at ESA Complex.
The Rangers generated more quality opportunities than the Warriors but were unable to make the most of those chances.
Mike Thompson and Noah Boyko scored as the Rangers (2-3-1, 9GF/17 GA) dropped their first match after picking up points in the 1-0 win against Spruce Grove Saints/Man City (2-4, 6GF/11 GA) and 3-3 draw with Futballers FC (3-1-2, 13 GF/9 GA).
