The St. Albert Rangers kick off their division 1A men's fixtures today in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Game time is 2 p.m. against E & C United at the ESA Complex.

Monday the Rangers play the Edmonton Warriors at 8:15 p.m. at Coronation Park.

Last year the Rangers placed second in the division 1A table for the second time in four years while qualifying for the Tier I provincials and finished fourth in the tournament.

The team's overall record was 10-8-2 (43 GF/31 GA).

Will Backhouse tied for division lead in goals with 13 as the Rangers compiled an 8-4-2 record in league play.

Tuesday's premier women's match between two of the three St. Albert Impact teams in the division starts at 7 p.m. at the ESA Complex.

The Impact premier squad will make their season debut in the Edmonton District Soccer Association and Impact/Inter SC won its opener this week 6-2 over Dreadnought in Sherwood Park.

Alana Mawhinney tallied four times and Izabella Dobbin and Shawna Sayaphet also scored in support of goalkeeper Tianna Groeneveld.

The first-year Impact/Inter SC side is comprised mostly of Impact players moving up from youth to senior.

The Impact 1 team in premier got the ball rolling this week in the 4-0 loss to Northwest United at the ESA Complex.

Northwest was 18-0 in premier last year.

Impact 1 was promoted into premier after posting an overall mark of 13-4-4 (58 GF/17 GA) as the Tier I provincial champions and division 1B pennant winners at 9-3-4.

The next Impact 1 match is Tuesday versus Green & Gold at 8:15 p.m. at Goldstick Park.

Meanwhile, the division 1A Impact 2 women play twice in three days, starting tonight against the Edmonton Warriors at 6 p.m. at the ESA Complex.

Monday's contest against Azzurri kicks off at 7 p.m. at O'Leary High School.

Impact 2 received a promotion after placing first in division 2A at 13-2-1 while going 14-4-4 (71 GF/26 GA) overall as the fourth-place team at Tier II provincials.

The St. Albert Impact division 2A men are back on the pitch Tuesday in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. against Mexico FC at Coronation Park.

The Impact competed in division 1B last year and placed seventh out of eight teams at 3-9-2 (17 GF/34 GA).

The revamped men's and women's schedules in metro Edmonton high school soccer have the Bellerose Bulldogs, Paul Kane Blues and St. Albert Skyhawks grouped together in division two in the same pool.

Wednesday the Bulldogs beat the Blues 5-1 in the men's league.

The Bulldogs were led by Daniel Ward's three goals and singles by Georghe Ruicea and Aaron Rasberry.

Nicholas Heinrichs replied for the Blues.

Thursday the Skyhawks blanked the Blues 2-0 in the women's division.

Next week the Skyhawks and Bulldogs play Thursday in the women's league at 4:15 p.m. at Forest Park Field.

All eight teams in the St. Albert Men's Soccer League grace the pitch Tuesday at the Salisbury and Eldorado venues.

At 6 p.m. the Forest Park Rangers play the Misfits and 7:30 p.m. its LADS FC versus Magnitude FC at Salisbury.

The Eldorado match-ups are Impact Alumni against Prestige Worldwide at 6 p.m. and the DV Youngmen tackle Chester City at 7:30 p.m.

The SAMSL fixtures kicked off Sunday but results were unavailable at press time.

Prestige, the defending league champion, and the Rangers, Magnitude and Chester City are back from last year's five-team circuit.

The St. Albert Women's Soccer League kicks into action May 23 with the single division format to determine the first and second division teams for the second half of the season.

The lid-lifter features Mavericks 09, the 2016 Tier III provincial silver medallists and winners of three SAWSL playoff cups in a row and four in five years, and the Morinville Ladies. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Forest Park Field.

Last year the Mavericks blanked Morinville 6-0 in the final for their 17th win in the regular season, playoffs and provincials.

The final also marked the fourth time in five years the Mavericks and Morinville went head-to-head for division one honours.

The St. Albert Blaze, Mavericks 95, Kickers, Titans, Gini's and the Devils, last year's division two champions, round out the SAWSL teams.
