The St. Albert Gregg Distributors Sabres head to Calgary this weekend undefeated in seven games in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Sabres play the Northstars (12-10-6) Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Don Hartman Sportsplex and the Royals (4-20-4) Sunday at 11:45 a.m. at Stu Peppard Arena.

The Sabres (10-12-5) are 5-0-2 since a three-game losing streak in December after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with the Sherwood Park Flyers (15-11-1) at Akinsdale Arena.

The Flyers scored the equalizer with 4:33 remaining.

Zakk Makeiff opened the scoring in the first with his team-leading 18th of the season and Andon Coles made it 2-1 on the power play with 7:47 to go. Captain Levi Fesyk assisted on both goals.

Luke Roberts (5-3-5, 2.93 GAA) was in net as the Sabres outshot the Flyers 30-23.

The Sabres and SSAC Southgate Lions (10-13-5) share third place in the nitro north division and SSAC has a game in hand.

League play ends Feb. 24 before the best-of-three nitro semifinals starts.
