Rugby matches
Today’s tripleheader at St. Albert Rugby Football Club kicks off with the division two women’s match.SARFC (6-1) and Parkland Sharks (1-7) scrum down at 12 noon.
The last match for the SARFC women before the Edmonton Rugby Union semifinals next Saturday is against the host Lep/Tigers (7-0) Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
The Clan (6-2) and LA Crude (6-3), last year’s ERU champion, have also clinched playoff spots.
At 2 p.m. SARFC (2-9) and Grande Prairie Centaurs (5-6) lock horns in the ERU division two men’s match.
The result of the 4 p.m. Alberta Cup premier men’s match between SARFC (5-4) and Strathcona Druids (4-5) will determine the Ken Ann Cup semifinalist for SARFC next Saturday.
The Lep/Tigers (4-5) are another semifinal candidate for SARFC.
SAMSL playoffs
The two-game aggregate semifinals in the St. Albert Men’s Soccer League kick off Sunday at Riel Park.Start times are 1 and 3 p.m. between the top two teams in the group A and B playoff round robins.
The second playoff leg is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riel Park.
Thursday’s group A and B results finalized the crossover semifinal pairings. Scores were unavailable at press time.
The finals are Sept. 15 at Riel Park at 11 a.m. for the third-place trophy and 1 p.m. for the playoff cup.
The Forest Park Rangers are the defending champions.
The Impact Alumni, last year’s finalists, finished first in the regular season at 8-1-6 (51 GF/21 GA) and Forest Park placed second at 8-4-3 (45 GF/16 GA).
Miners Classic
Tee time is 9 a.m. for the ninth annual Miners Lacrosse Club Golf Classic on Sept. 22 at Eagle Rock Golf & Country Club in Rolly View.The entry fee is $140 per person.

The registration table at the clubhouse will be open at 8 a.m.
The Miners Lacrosse Club of St. Albert consists of junior A, senior B and senior C teams in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
The senior B Miners are winners of three Presidents’ Cups in a row and the team’s overall record after losing the 2015 provincial final is 87-4-2.
The Presidents’ Cup is expected to make an appearance at the golf tournament.
