Changes to the city’s event guidelines to ensure all safety concerns are addressed has forced the Leading Edge RunWild to drop the only marathon in St. Albert history from its May 3 lineup.

The non-profit organization will continue with the events that have served the majority of the participants over the past four years – half-marathon run/walk, 10-kilometre run/walk, five-km run/walk and WildOnes Kids MaraFun for six-to 12-year-olds – after deciding not to meet the cost factor and resources required under the new guidelines for the 42-km marathon.

Last year, 76 runners completed the marathon and the winner for the third time was Marc Meunier of St. Albert.

The RunWild is hosted by Leading Edge Physiotherapy in support of Edmonton’s Zebra Child Protection Centre and the St. Albert 50+ Club.
