The Alberta Rugby Union division two women’s final between St. Albert and the Calgary Saints kicks off today at noon at Calgary Rugby Park.
St. Albert is 10-4 overall after scoring 31 unanswered points in the second half to knock off the hometown Grande Prairie Sirens 36-22 in the Edmonton Rugby Union final last weekend.
The last provincial women’s championship for the St. Albert Rugby Football Club was 2009 in division two.

At 1 p.m. SARFC and the Clansmen clash in second division action at Ellerslie Rugby Park and at 4 p.m. the premier side battles the Nor’Westers.
A win by the seconds (4-4-1) against the Clan (6-3) would strengthen their grip on the fourth and final playoff spot in the Edmonton Rugby Union with two matches remaining before the semifinals kick off Sept. 20.
The seconds wrap up league play against the Centaurs (2-7) Sept. 6 in Grande Prairie and the Nor’Westers (3-6) Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at SARFC.
The Alberta Cup tilt between the firsts (9-1) and Nor’Westers (2-7) is a dress rehearsal for the Sept. 20 north semifinal at SARFC.
The last match before the playoffs for the 2013 Labatt’s Cup provincial finalists is Thursday against the Clan (4-6) at 6:30 p.m. at SARFC.
St. Albert met its match against the Clansmen in the U19 junior men’s final Wednesday at Ellerslie Rugby Park.
The Clan (6-0) racked up five tries and a conversion in the 27-7 victory to claim the Nor’Westers Cup in the Edmonton Rugby Union.
It was 15-0 when Chad Monai-Brophy converted Sean Peacock’s try for St. Albert (4-2) in the second quarter.
After three quarters it was 20-7 for Clan’s junior academy team.
A melee ended the match.
In league play the Clan hammered a skeleton squad of St. Albert juniors 69-5 at Alpine field.
St. Albert was playing in its second U19 final in three years and the last ERU championship for the juniors was 2006 when the age division was U18.
The Clan will now challenge the Calgary Canucks for the Alberta Rugby Union crown.
