Friday is deadline day for the Landrex St. Albert Road Race.
The registration totals have surpassed the 200 mark for the 33rd annual 10-miler, the fourth annual 10- and five-kilometre races and the kids’ one-km fun run for the April 22 road race, presented by Active Physio Works.

So far, 92 runners have been confirmed for the 10-miler, 55 for the 10 km, 33 for the five km and 22 kids for the one km.
There is also a school and run club component to the road race and last year the Sturgeon Heights Eagles were represented by 84 students in the five km and kids’ fun run.
The Sturgeon Spirits were also awarded the high school trophy for their participation in the road race.
Race times are 9 a.m. for the 10-miler, 9:05 a.m. for the 10 km, 9:10 a.m. for the five km and 11 a.m. for the one km and the start/finish line is located on Sir Winston Churchill Avenue in front of the St. Albert Curling Club, the event's headquarters.
Last year’s road race in blizzard-like conditions resulted in 105 finishers (53 females and 52 males) in the 10-miler, 45 in the 10 km, 63 in the five km and 73 in the one km.
The King of the Road 10-mile champion was Kieran McDonald of Edmonton in one hour and eight seconds and the fastest female was Kelly Marcotte, a St. Albert Catholic High School alumna, at 1:11:10 for 10th place overall.
The rest of the first-place finishers were Robert Gustas in the 10 km at 37:48, Luke Hanson for the third year in a row in the five km at 17:40 and Samuel Dean in the kids’ fun run, which was 1.1 km, at 7:26.
This year’s confirmation list includes the top female finishers in 2012, Shannon Maisano of St. Albert at 63:03, and 2013, Alexandra Gordichuk of the Edmonton Triathlon Academy at 62:47.
Gordichuk was last year’s female runner-up at 1:12:49 for 20th place overall and Maisano was the second female finisher in the 10 km at 43:29 for fourth place overall.

Proceeds from the road race support You Can Ride 2, a free program that teaches youths with special needs or coordination challenges how to ride a two-wheel bicycle. It also allows families to borrow a bike so their children can experience the joy and freedom of riding a bike.
