The St. Albert Slash petite U12B team celebrated its third gold medal in four tournaments at the 29th annual Esso Golden Ring in Calgary last weekend.
The Slash defeated Calgary Bow View BAM! 4-1 in the final to finish 5-1 in the 16-team draw.
The only loss for the Slash was 4-3 to BAM! in the red pool round robin.
The Slash had previously won the St. Albert Turkey Ring and Sherwood Park Platinum Ring with undefeated records and placed second at the Fort Saskatchewan Diamond Ring.
The Slash are Renee Burke, Janell Demers, Bryn Dunbar, Emmerson Fahl, Sydney Fevin, Jamie Grimshaw, Aurora Johnson, Zoe Kosloski, Sarah Nowell, Mikayla Sarapuk, Gabrielle Scott, Mackenzie Waples, goalie Audrey Johnson, head coach Todd Kosloski and assistant coaches Chris Waples and Debbie Johnson.

Overall the St. Albert U12 age group did very well in Calgary with the U12A Shock and U12C Chicks with Sticks earning silver medals.
Fifteen St. Albert teams competed at the Golden Ring, billed as the world’s largest ringette tournament.
The tween U14AA and junior U16AA Mission teams from St. Albert returned home from Calgary with mixed results at the Esso Golden Ring.
The tweens finished 1-2-1 as quarter-finalists and the juniors were 3-1-1 as semifinalists.
In the playoffs, the tweens were eliminated by Calgary Crossfire 5-2 and the juniors fell 5-4 to Zone 5 Pack, the tournament champions.
The overall team records after the Golden Ring are 16-12-3 for the tweens and 20-6-3 for the juniors.
Upcoming are the tween and junior AA provincials Feb. 27 to March 1 at Servus Credit Union Place.
The tween AA westerns are March 25 to 28 in Calgary and the junior AA nationals are March 25 to April 4 in Fort McMurray.
It’s a busy weekend of ringette for the St. Albert Mission belle U19AA team.
Tonight at 6 p.m. the Mission plays the University of Alberta Alumni Open A team at 6 p.m. at Alexandria Park Arena in Leduc.
Sunday’s home game against Zone 5 Open A starts at 6:45 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.
The Mission’s overall record was 19-11-4 before Friday’s game against Zone 5 Grit U19AA in St. Albert. The score was unavailable at press time.
The next tournament for the Mission is Feb. 6 to 8 at Ottawa.
The Mission are also hosting the belle AA provincials Feb. 27 to March 1 at Servus Credit Union Place.
Nationals are March 25 to April 4 at Fort McMurray.
The St. Albert Ringette Association is one of 10 ringette associations from Alberta named as affiliates of Club Excellence, a national organization promoting healthy, sustainable and well-managed sports clubs across Canada.
The associations completed a self-evaluation on their practices and now that they are official affiliates they will strive to become nationally certified.
Beaumont, Northern Alberta, South Calgary, Northwest, Strathmore, Cochrane, Central Alberta Sting, Edmonton Ringette Club and Edmonton Federation Ringette joined St. Albert as the other associations. They represent more than one-quarter of Ringette Alberta’s membership and are the first ringette associations in Canada to become affiliates with Club Excellence.
