The St. Albert Mission skated into Friday’s playoff round with a winning record in pool play at the Freson Bros. Canadian Ringette Championships in Leduc.
The U19AA belles finished 5-1-1 in pool A after Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to Rive Sud (5-1-1) of Quebec and 5-2 win against Team Ontario (4-3).
Haley McFaull and Anatonia Hood scored in the loss.
Rive Sud potted the winner at 6:46 of the extra period.
Shots were 38-32 for the Mission and Shaylene Laufersweiler (3-1-1, 2.04 GAA) was in net.
Alex Dyky and co-captain Madison Darda tallied twice against Ontario.
Liv Helland also scored and Darda and Hood had two assists apiece.
The Mission were outshot 33-25 as Paige Squires (2-0, 3.98 GAA) backstopped the team to victory.
Results from pool play determined the playoff pairings in the 16-team draw.
Friday’s quarter-final score between the Mission and Edmonton Elite (5-2 in pool B) was unavailable at press time.

In the round robin, Mykenzie Howard led the Mission in scoring with seven goals and 12 points.
Darda registered six goals and 10 points and Hood collected seven assists for 10 points for the Ringette Alberta silver medallists.

Co-captain Vail Ketsa struck twice and Grace Haney also scored against Calgary Pace.
Ketsa was the Mission’s top scorer in the round robin with 10 goals and 14 points.
Shots were 44-32 for Calgary and Jordyn Scott (2-2, 3.75 GAA) was in net.
The 3-3 Mission finished fifth after the 2-1 mini-game tiebreaker against the Regina Stingers.
Ketsa scored in the 10-minute period.
The U16AA juniors outshot Regina 13-9 and Scott drew the start.
Regina also beat the Mission 4-2 in Monday’s tournament opener.
Pool play determined the various playoff pairings in the 21-team draw and Friday’s score against the Edmonton Elite (0-5-1 in pool B) in the consolation round was unavailable at press time.

The Black Gold RUSH closed out their second National Ringette League championship tournament appearance Friday against the Richmond Hill Lightning.
The score from Beaumont was unavailable at press time.
The RUSH were 0-6 in the eight-team round robin, with 12 goals and 36 against.
This is the second year for the RUSH in the NRL and the majority of the players are products of the St. Albert Ringette Association.
Lauren Henderson of St. Albert and the RUSH captain led the team in scoring after six games with seven goals and nine points.
Last year the RUSH finished eighth out of eight teams at 0-7 at nationals in London, Ont.
