The Mission trailed 1-0 and then 2-1 at the half and 3-2 with 15 minutes to play in the hard-fought affair with Calgary (3-1-1).
The Mission pulled even with 12 minutes to play and scored the go-ahead goal with five minutes left.
The Mission’s overall record is 11-3-1 after their second tournament triumph of the season.
The next tournament is the Edmonton Wood, Nov. 24 to 26.
The Mission are back on the ice Saturday against the Edmonton Elite at 10 a.m. at Mark Messier Arena. The teams battled to a 3-3 draw in Saskatoon.
Meanwhile, the U16AA Mission juniors finished 1-3 and the U19AA Mission belles went 2-2 in Saskatoon.
U16A Delta
The St. Albert Delta U16A juniors ran the table at the Bernadette Price Memorial Tournament.
The fifth win was 2-0 against Eastman (2-2-1) of Winnipeg in the final as Kayla Morin posted the shutout.
In the round robin, Delta rallied from a 3-1 deficit to beat Eastman 7-3.
Another toughie was the 6-4 win over the Regina Ringers after falling behind 4-1.
The Delta juniors persevered in Saskatoon despite a couple of injuries as the rest of the players stepped up and competed hard.
The team’s overall record is 16-1.
Boxing card
The St. Albert Boxing Academy is hosting a season-opening club card Sunday at Sir George Simpson School.
Weigh-ins and medical times are 8 to 10 a.m. and the competition starts at 1 p.m.
The head coach of the St. Albert amateur boxing club is Brad Hortie and training sessions for individuals of all ages, genders and fitness levels are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Hockey heroes
The Heroes Hockey Challenge is coming to St. Albert.
The charity game between the Edmonton Oilers Alumni and the Warriors, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, is Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.
Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and tickets are $10.
Canada’s hockey history will be on display with the Hart, Conn Smythe, Art Ross and Canada Cup trophies available for viewing and photos.
Canadian country music star Gord Bamford will sing the national anthem and minor hockey players from St. Albert and Edmonton will play against the Oilers’ alumni during the intermission breaks.
The Heroes Hockey Challenge is a series of charitable hockey fundraising events held annually in communities across Canada with various NHL alumni teams and celebrities.
All funds raised from the St. Albert game will be shared between the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Foundation and the Edmonton Garrison Military Family Resource Centre in support of programs for Canada’s serving military, veterans and their families.
Blues buffaloed
The Paul Kane Blues ended the season on a losing note in high school football.
And for the second game in a row, Paul Kane was shut out on the scoreboard while going down to defeat 44-0 to the St. Joseph Celtics in the Tier II north semifinal Saturday in Grande Prairie following the 37-0 loss to the Strathcona Lords in the metro Edmonton division two Miles conference final Nov. 3 at Commonwealth Stadium.
Paul Kane trailed 21-0 at halftime against the Celtics as last year’s Alberta Bowl finalists pounded the ball on a slippery snow-covered field and the Blues struggled offensively putting first downs together.
Paul Kane’s scoring drought is now at 128 minutes and 31 seconds. The last points produced by Paul Kane was a safety with 8:31 left in the first half of the 16-3 win against the St. Albert High Skyhawks in the Miles’ semifinal and the team’s last TD was scored with 6:59 gone in the playoff match.
In Tier II (750 to 1,249 students), Paul Kane (7-3) was ranked sixth and the Celtics (12-0) were No. 1.
Paul Kane is now 1-5 in five consecutive provincial appearances and are 1-3 against the Celtics and the scores in the previous losses to the four-time reigning Peace Bowl champions were 22-1 in 2014 at Foote Field and 33-9 in 2015 in Grande Prairie.
Paul Kane also lost last year’s north semifinal 22-15 to the Lloydminster Barons of the Wheatland league at Johnny Bright Park.
