Prospects Game info for the Sharks and Raiders in Alberta Female Hockey League and basketball games at Bellerose and Paul Kane

AFHL all-stars Today’s showcase event in the Alberta Female Hockey League is the Prospects Game for the midget elite and bantam elite all-stars at NAIT Arena. Game times are 2:30 p.m. for bantams and 5 p.m. for the midgets.

AFHL all-stars

Today’s showcase event in the Alberta Female Hockey League is the Prospects Game for the midget elite and bantam elite all-stars at NAIT Arena.

Game times are 2:30 p.m. for bantams and 5 p.m. for the midgets.

Two forwards and one defenceman from each AFHL team were selected to their respective rosters by AFHL coaches and the netminders were chosen based on their statistical ranking as of Jan. 10.

Representing the bantam elite St. Albert Raiders are Jaidia Pisani on defence, Bronwyn Boucher and Natalie Kieser as forwards and head coach Sandro Pisani.

The Raiders (5-16-2) are first in the north and second overall in the AFHL after going 7-1 in January.

Upcoming for the Raiders are two games in Lloydminster against the Steelers (8-12-2) next weekend.

The midget elite St. Albert Sharks for the Prospects Game include netminders’ Holly Borrett and Cecelia Michelutti, Emma Sundar on defence, Kylie Foisy and Brooklyn Schroeder as forwards and head coach Dennis Sundar.

The Sharks (16-2) posted a 3-2 mark in January as the top team in the league.

The next game is Wednesday against the Edmonton Pandas (8-10-1) at 7:45 p.m. at Bill Hunter Arena.

Bellerose hoops

The Bellerose Bulldogs host a metro Edmonton high school basketball doubleheader Monday.

The division three senior women’s game tips off at 5 p.m. between the Bulldogs (6-0), last year’s playoff finalists, and Austin O’Brien Crusaders (3-3).

The division two senior men’s match between the Bulldogs (5-1) and Spruce Grove Panthers (6-0) starts at 6:30 p.m.

Also looming large for the Bulldogs is the Feb. 12 tilt against the Paul Kane Blues (1-5) at 6:30 p.m. at Bellerose.

Basketball at PK

The Paul Kane Blues hoop it up at home Monday in the metro Edmonton division one senior women’s league.

Tip-off is 5:30 p.m. against the Spruce Grove Panthers (2-4)

The Blues (6-0) are No. 2 in the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association 4A provincial rankings behind the Jasper Place Rebels (6-0), the 2017 provincial gold medallists and two-time defending metro league champions.

The St. Albert Skyhawks (6-0) are also ranked No. 9 in 4A and the St. Albert Catholic High School team hosts the Blues on Feb. 12 at 5 p.m.

The second 4A rankings of the season will be released Feb. 16.

The Blues are 18-3 overall after Wednesday’s 68-30 victory over the Salisbury Sabres (5-2) in Sherwood Park as league play resumed following the exam break.

The Blues are in Calgary this weekend for the St. Mary's Saints tournament.
