STOPPED SHORT – Erik Boers, captain of the St. Albert Nektar Data Systems Raiders, is denied a goal by netminder Ross Hawryluk of the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers (11-5), the north division leaders in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League. The Raiders (7-7-2), third in the north, are 2-4 on the road when they visit the Red Deer Chiefs (11-2-3) today at 4:45 p.m. and the Calgary Buffaloes (10-4-2) Sunday at 1:45 p.m. The team's record against the south division is 3-5-2.

Female hockey

Today’s female hockey exhibition game between the bantam A St. Albert Blades and a team from Harbin, China, starts at 12:30 p.m. at Edmonton Garrison Arena.

Harbin also has a game scheduled against the bantam elite St. Albert Raiders of the Alberta Female Hockey League on Dec. 16 at 8:45 p.m. at Troy Murray Arena.

The Blades are 2-0-1 in round two after going 2-1-1 in the opening round of the Hockey Edmonton regular season.

Sunday the Blades play the Blackout at 8 p.m. at Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre.

Junior B action

Sunday the St. Albert Merchants face off against the Spruce Grove Eagles in the Capital Junior B Hockey League.

Puck drop is 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena and the Merchants are 4-3-1 on home ice.

The Merchants (5-9-3) and Eagles (4-15) are the bottom two teams in the west division.

The Merchants are 1-1-3 in five games after last weekend’s 6-2 loss to the Morinville Jets (8-7-1) at Ray McDonald Sports Centre.

Flyers play CAC

The next game for the St. Albert Flyers is Monday in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.

Start time is 8 p.m. against CAC United Cycle (4-8-1) at Callingwood Arena.

The midget 15 Flyers were winners of five in a row before Friday’s affair with the KC Centennials (0-12) at Castledowns Arena. The score was unavailable at press time.

Entering the weekend, the Flyers (11-2-1), PAC Saints (11-1-1) and Leduc Oil Kings (11-2-2) were the top teams in the north standings.

Midget AA games

The St. Albert Blues skate Sunday against CAC Butchers & Packers in the Northern Alberta Hockey League.

Faceoff is 5:30 p.m. at Millwoods Arena.

The Blues (3-4-3) are seventh in the Besa division and the CAC (5-5) is second in the Anderson division.

The Blues are coming off a 1-1 draw with the St. Albert Source for Sports Crusaders last weekend.

The Crusaders (9-2-2) ranked first in the Besa standing before Friday’s home game against Beaumont Braves (8-3) of the CanAccom division. The score was unavailable at press time.

In the 2018 NAHL final, the Crusaders eliminated Beaumont in game four of the best-of-five series.

Tuesday the Crusaders take on the Anderson division SSAC Canadian Brewhouse (3-8-1) at 8:30 p.m. at Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre.
