St. Albert’s division one men’s teams in the Edmonton District Soccer Association have matches scheduled tonight away from home.
The division 1A Impact Rangers (two wins, one loss) play Croatia (two wins) at Coronation Park and division 1B Impact (two wins, one loss) squares off against DFCA (two wins) at the ESA Complex. Kickoff times are 7 p.m.
The Metro Edmonton high school soccer playoffs kick off Thursday in the women’s city conference for the Paul Kane Blues, St. Albert Skyhawks and the defending champion Bellerose Bulldogs (1-3-1). Game times, field locations and opponents for the quarter-final round were unavailable at press time. The semifinals are June 2 and the final is June 8 at 4:15 p.m. at Victoria Soccer Club.
League play wrapped up Tuesday for the Blues (3-1) and Skyhawks (1-3).
The men’s city conference quarter-finals start Monday for the Blues, last year’s champions. In pool B the Blues (4-1-1) play their last game before the playoffs today against the Sturgeon Spirits (1-4-1) at 4:15 p.m. at Namao.
The top four teams in pools A and B qualify for the men’s crossover playoffs. The semifinals are June 3 and the final is June 8 at 4 p.m. at Victoria.
Bragging rights are at stake Friday, when the senior AAA Tigers battle the junior AAA Tabbies in the Sunburst Baseball League. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

Meanwhile, the Tigers Baseball Association will host an instructional camp Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the midget diamond at Legion park. It’s open to all male/female T-ball to peewee division players. The registration fee is $20, which includes a T-shirt and lunch with your favourite Tiger. There will also be contests throughout the day, with awards handed out and opportunities to become bat boys/girls for the 26th annual Tigers tournament, June 19 to 21.

The following St. Albert athletes recorded top placings in their respective age divisions at the Canadian national racquetball championships last weekend at the Mayfield Inn & Suites Athletic Club.
First: Al Bauman (men’s singles 35-plus B/C).
Second: Stephen Campbell (men’s singles 35-plus B/C); Jack McBride (men’s singles 70-plus); Marion McBride and partner Bob Bear of Edmonton (mixed doubles A); Jack McBride and partner Carol Mcfarlane of Calgary (mixed doubles B).
Third: Brad Kelly (men’s singles B).
Consolation: Marion McBride and partner Nina Markovic of B.C. (women’s doubles B).
More than 160 athletes from all provincials participated in both singles and doubles.
