The St. Albert Stars are slotted to play their first game of the season against the Fort McMurray Monarchs on May 26.The Stars placed fourth in the 2017 AFL standings behind the McMurray Monarchs in first, the Calgary Gators in second and the Central Alberta Buccaneers in third.
Last time the Stars played the Monarchs, they lost 14 - 54.

Fastball
Fastball St. Albert is hosting tournaments for the next three weekends in a row. This weekend, four teams from the St. Albert Angels A division will play at the Meadowview Park diamonds. Next weekend, four teams from the B division will take a swing at it.From June 8 to 10, Fastball St. Albert's 21st annual association tournament will be held at ball diamonds in both Meadoview Park and Henry Singer in Edmonton. Merch Madness
The St. Albert Merchants Hockey Club is hosting the third annual Merch Madness Cup golf tournament on Friday, June 22. The tournament will be played in the format of a four-person scramble.
$1,000 of the proceeds raised will go to the Humboldt Memorial Committee to help fund scholarships for local Raider hockey players. Additionally, 10 per cent of the proceeds will go to the Stroke Ambulance Pilot Project at the U of A Hospital, in recognition of coach Pete Snaterse.
People can register as individuals or teams and will play for awards and prizes for first place, most honest, longest drive, longest putt and closest to pin. Registration includes cart and green fees, free driving range, steak dinner and prizes. Upgrade to the VIP limo package to receive valet club to cart service and a complimentary burger and beverage from Original Joe's.

Road Rage
Celebrate Canada's favourite winter game in the summer: the sixth annual Road Rage Street Hockey Tournament is underway this weekend. This year's street hockey festival is set to be the biggest one yet, with 92 teams playing for the Road Rage Cup.There will be old school hockey fun, music and food at Servus Place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The event is free and open to the public.
