The St. Albert Cardinals in the Baseball Alberta junior AAA league have a doubleheader scheduled Sunday against the Slave Lake Heat.

Game times are noon and 3 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

The Heat (7-5) and Cardinals (4-6) are third and fifth, respectively, in the seven-team standings.

The South Jasper Place Jays (11-1) are first overall.

Last weekend the Cardinals dropped two games to the host Innisfail Merchants (8-4) by scores of 22-12 and 5-3.

The St. Albert Senior (30-plus) Cardinals are up to bat Monday in the Alberta West Central Baseball Association.

First pitch is 6:45 p.m. against the Westlock Red Lions (7-2) at Legion Memorial Park.

Last weekend the Cardinals (1-5) posted their first win of the season, 20-2 over the Edmonton Blues (3-8) in St. Albert.

Tuesday the St. Albert Junior Cardinals host the Edmonton Athletics in the North Central Alberta Baseball League.

First pitch is 7:15 p.m. against the Athletics (1-8) at Legion Memorial Park.

The last home game for the Cardinals was this past Tuesday against the first-place Stony Plain Mets (7-1) and it was rained out.

Friday the Cardinals (5-3) played the Axemen (3-6) in Camrose but the score was unavailable at press time.

The St. Albert Impact teams in the premier women's division of the Edmonton District Soccer Association kick into action Tuesday.

At Riel Park, Impact/Inter SC (5-3-1) face-off against Green & Gold (8-0-1) at 6:30 p.m. and the Impact Premier (5-2-1) match against Dreadnought (1-7) starts at 8:15 p.m.

Impact 1 (2-5-1) also plays at Victoria Soccer Club (2-4-1) at 6:30 p.m.

Rain washed out this past week's matches for the three Impact teams.

Impact Premier and Impact/Inter are tied for third in the 10-team table.

Brittany Kindzierski of Impact Premier and Alana Mawhinney of Impact/Inter share second place in the division scoring race with eight goals apiece.

The last Alberta premier women's match at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club is Wednesday against the Strathcona Druids.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. between sixth-place SARFC (1-5-1) and the fourth-place Druids (4-2).

SARFC has three matches remaining after playing the Druids and the top four finishers in the eight-team table make the playoffs.
