The winner of today's metro Edmonton division two pool A men's rugby match between the Bellerose Bulldogs and Paul Kane Blues will be awarded the Gareth Jones Cup.

Kickoff is 4:45 p.m. at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club.

Bellerose was the inaugural winner at the 2012 St. Albert high schools' tournament and Paul Kane was victorious in league play by scores of 12-11 in 2013 and 31-0 in 2015.

Bellerose regained possession of the prestigious cup in last year's 20-7 triumph.

The Gareth Jones Cup honours one of the Nervous Nine founding members of SARFC and its first president. Jones also coached Paul Kane's first rugby team in 1980 and was inducted into the Alberta Rugby Hall of Fame in 2005.

Paul Kane is 1-1 after the 15-12 win over the Bev Facey Falcons and 50-21 loss to the Sturgeon Spirits and Bellerose will scrum down in its first league match of the season.

The St. Albert Rugby Football Club kicks off its home fixtures tonight with the men's U21 match against the Lep/Tigers at 7 p.m.

Saturday's doubleheader starts at 2 p.m. between the third division men and the Grande Prairie Centaurs in the Edmonton Rugby Union, followed by the Alberta premier women's match between SARFC and Lep/Tigers at 4 p.m.
