The Tim Hortons Brier is underway for two members of the St. Albert Curling Club's wall of fame.

Marc Kennedy is the third and Scott Pfeifer is the alternate for the Kevin Koe rink in St. John's N.L.

The Koe foursome, with Brent Laing at second and Ben Hebert at lead, are the Team Canada entry as the 2016 Brier and world champions.

The 2017 worlds are in Edmonton, April 1 to 9 at Northlands Coliseum.

Kennedy, 35, is competing in his eighth Brier and the third with Koe.

The Paul Kane High School alumnus is a three-time Brier winner, two-time world champion and 2010 Olympic gold medallist.

The former St. Albert Storm quarterback is also hosting the second annual Marc Kennedy Junior Classic, presented by Sarasota Homes & Realty, March 23 to 26 at the St. Albert and Jasper Place curling clubs.

Pfeifer, 40, is participating in his seventh Brier and the second in a row as the alternate for Koe.

The former second for the Ferbey Four is a four-time Brier winner and three-time world champion with the Alberta Curling Federation's Team of the Century before hooking up with Koe last year.

The Bellerose Composite High School alumnus is also a valuable sub for the legendary Hootie and the Old Fish, the perennial President's Cup champions in the St. Albert men's playoffs.

The Koe rink also has a spot guaranteed at the Roar of the Rings Olympic Trials, Dec. 2 to 10 in Ottawa.
