Friday the Tigers (3-10) host the Red Deer Riggers (10-3) in a doubleheader starting at 6:30 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

Tonight’s second division women’s match in the Edmonton Rugby Union kicks off at 7 p.m. between the host St. Albert Rugby Football Club and Leduc Crude.

Leduc (4-3) and SARFC (3-3) are slotted fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 12-team table.

A number of SARFC players also do double duty with the club’s Alberta premier team (2-6-1) and the second-last match of the season is 3:30 p.m. Saturday against the first-place Hornets (9-0) at Calgary Rugby Park.

The last league game for the St. Albert Cardinals before the Tier I bantam AAA provincials is tonight against the South Jasper Place Jays.

First pitch is 7 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

The Jays (25-8) and Cardinals (22-10) are among the top teams in the Baseball Alberta league.

Provincials are Aug. 6-8 and the first-place Okotoks Dawgs (29-3) are the host team.

The winner advances to the U15 nationals, Aug. 24 to 27 at Summerside, P.E.I., and the runner-up competes at westerns, Aug. 18 to 20 at Kamloops.

Last year the Cardinals won provincials and finished fourth at nationals.

The next Sunburst Baseball League action for the St. Albert Tigers is Friday’s doubleheader against the Red Deer Riggers.

The first game starts at 6:30 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

Red Deer (10-3) is first and the Tigers (3-10) are last in the four-team senior AAA division.

Meanwhile, the Tigers finished fifth at the Red Deer tournament last weekend with one win and two losses.

The St. Albert Men’s Soccer League all-stars grace the pitch Sunday against the St. Albert Impact division 2A team in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Kickoff is 3 p.m. at Riel Park.

Last year’s tilt was decided on penalty kicks after a 1-1 stalemate with the Impact prevailing.

The all-star roster consist of 20 players from the eight SAMSL teams and the first-place Forest Park Rangers (10-1-1, 50 GF/14 GA) lead the way with eight reps, including Terry Esposito with a league-high 15 goals.

The Impact (7-2-2, 34 GF/14 GA) shared first place in the EDSA table before Tuesday’s match against Steaua/Redhill (1-6-3). The score was unavailable at press time.

The Impact’s top marksmen are Sam Smith-Ackerl with seven goals and Scott Robson with six.

Meanwhile, the SAMSL playoffs start Aug. 13 and last year’s champion, Prestige Worldwide (6-4-1, 33 GF/22 GA), is ranked third in league play.
