Today’s doubleheader against the Clan at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club kicks off at 2 p.m. with the Alberta premier women’s match.
The Alberta Cup premier men rumble at 4 p.m. in the season opener for both teams.
Friday the SARFC third division men played the Clan at Airways Park in the Edmonton Rugby Union but the score was unavailable at press time.
Last weekend the SARFC premier women lost 59-12 to the Lep/Tigers in St. Albert and the Clanswomen, last year’s ERU division one champions, fell 40-23 to the Saracens in Calgary.
The St. Albert Miners continue their five-game homestand this weekend in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
The 2016 Presidents’ Cup senior B national champions host the Calgary Mountaineers (1-0) tonight at 8 p.m. and the Rockyview Knights (2-1) at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Miners (2-0) are winners of 27 games in a row after last year’s season-opening 7-7 tie against the Knights. Two of the victories were against the Mountaineers in the best-of-three provincial final.
The Crude Lacrosse Club of St. Albert has a junior B tier I game scheduled Sunday in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
Ball drop is 3 p.m. against the Calgary Chill (1-1) at Akinsdale Arena.

The first Crude victory of the season was 5-4 in overtime against the Fort Saskatchewan Rebels (1-3) Tuesday at JRC Arena.
Jorden McCuaig’s penalty shot was the game winner.
Liam Potgieter potted a pair in the third period, including a shorthanded effort with 4:20 left in regulation time to knot it at four.
Ben Holowaty and Dustin Herman also scored in the rough and tumble contest as the teams combined for more than 100 penalty minutes.
Registrations are being accepted for the second annual Merch Madness Cup golf tournament, hosted by the junior St. Albert Merchants on June 9 at the Sturgeon Valley Golf & Country Club.
The entry fee is $150 per person or $600 for a team.
The four-person scramble format starts at 8 a.m. and dinner is 1:30 p.m.
