The men’s division two pool A matches feature the Bellerose Bulldogs versus the Bev Facey Falcons and the Paul Kane Blues versus the Sturgeon Spirits.
Kickoff times are 4:45 p.m. at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club.
The defending Presidents’ Cup senior B national champion St. Albert Miners are back on the floor in Friday’s season opener against the Blackfalds Silvertips.
Ball drop is 8 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.
The Miners finished 25-0-1 overall last year as the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League provincial winners and the host team for nationals in Leduc.
The 25th win in a row was 12-7 against the Kahnawake Mohawks of the Quebec Senior League in the national final.
The Silvertips are newcomers to the seven-team senior B division.
The junior B Tier I season for the Crude Lacrosse Club of St. Albert starts this weekend at Akinsdale Arena.
Game times are 8 p.m. Saturday against the Calgary Shamrocks and 3 p.m. against the Red Deer Rampage.
Last year the Crude (3-17, 142 GF/266 GA) finished fifth in the six-team north division of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
The St. Albert Heavenly Rollers and Tar Sand Betties grace the track in Saturday’s roller derby bout at Servus Credit Union Place.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first jam whistle is 7 p.m.

The St. Albert Rams’ midget A zone team plays the Saskatchewan SWAT twice this weekend in the Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council.
The teams hook up at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at George Hughes Arena and 11 a.m. Sunday at Kinex Arena.
The Rams won their league lifter 6-3 against the Edmonton Warriors last week and Monday’s score against the Parkland Posse was unavailable at press time.
Jackson Ganton and Mathieu Gautier tallied twice against the Warriors.
Carter Albrecht and Alex Sorochan notched singles and Kyver Van Iderstine was in net.
Penalties were 16 minutes for the Rams and 43 minutes for the Warriors.
