The Royals (16-6-3) and SSAC Dolce Vita Homes (17-6-1) are battling for second place in the nine-team standings behind SSAC Besa Power Skating (21-5).

The Royals are 9-1-2 in their last 12 games after defeating CAC Kingsway Toyota (1-23-2) 8-2 last week at Callingwood Arena.

Josh Klassen and Zach Chizen potted two goals apiece and Cam Thomas posted one goal and three assists.

League play ends Monday for the Royals against the PAC Saints (10-12-2) at 7:15 p.m. at Grant Fuhr Arena.

The best-of-three quarter-finals start Feb. 21.

The midget elite St. Albert Sharks are winless in 11 games when they play the Edmonton Pandas tonight in the Alberta Female Hockey League.

Start time is 7:45 p.m. at Bill Hunter Arena.

The Pandas (8-7-2) and Sharks (6-13-1) are third and fourth, respectively, in the north standings.

The last win for the Sharks was 5-2 against the North Central Impact (2-15-1) Nov. 17 in St. Albert.

The 0-10-1 winless streak featured six shutout losses, including the last three scoreless games.

The next game for the first-place bantam elite St. Albert Raiders in the Alberta Female Hockey League is Thursday in Sherwood Park.

Puck drop is 7:15 p.m. against the Royals (14-5-2).

The last game for the Raiders (17-2-1) was the 2-1 shootout loss to the Peace Country Storm (2-17-2) Jan. 29 in St. Albert that ended the team’s 15-game winning streak.

This weekend the Raiders host the Lloydminster Steelers (14-3-3) at 7:45 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Go Auto Arena.

The Raiders and Steelers are the top two teams in the north division.

The midget AAA Slash head south this weekend for two games in the Alberta Female Hockey League.

The first-place Slash (19-2-1) and the second-place Rocky Mountain Raiders (14-6-2) face-off at 2 p.m. Saturday in DeWinton and Sunday’s game against the fourth-place Calgary Fire (9-12-1) starts at 11:15 a.m. at Max Bell Arena.

The Slash are coming off a 3-2 loss to the third-place Red Deer Chiefs (8-12-4) Jan. 28 in Red Deer.
