Facey, a pool A team, is 4-2 after winning last week’s opening playoff tilt 12-7 against the Paul Kane Blues (3-3).

In preseason play the Bulldogs defeated Facey three touchdowns to two Sept. 9 in Sherwood Park.

The winner plays the St. Joseph Saints (5-1) or the Jasper Place Rebels (5-0) in the Nov. 6 final at 5 p.m. at Clarke Park.

The Bulldogs are in the hunt to become the first junior team to win three championships in a row since the 2004 to ’06 St. Albert Hawks, when Paul Kane High School was a feeder program for the St. Albert Catholic High School football team. The Bulldogs’ roster includes players from Sturgeon Composite High School.

The Bulldogs are 21-0 in league and playoff games combined since losing the 2011 premier semifinal to Facey.

The playoffs are underway today in metro Edmonton high school volleyball.

The division two junior men’s and women’s crossover round features the top eight teams in pools A and B.

Thursday the division two senior men’s and women’s crossovers swing into action.

Next week the division one senior men’s and women’s quarter-finals start Monday. The semifinals are Wednesday and the finals are Saturday at 5 p.m. for the women and 7 p.m. for the men at Strathcona High School.

The junior playoffs resume next week with Monday’s quarter-finals, Wednesday’s semifinals and the finals are Friday at 4 p.m. for the men and Saturday at 11 a.m. for the women at Strathcona.

The division two senior playoffs also continue next week with Tuesday’s quarter-finals, Thursday’s semifinals and the finals are Friday at 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men at Strathcona.

The St. Albert Raiders continue their six-game homestand this weekend at Akinsdale Arena in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League.

The Raiders host the Maple Leafs (1-9) Saturday at 8 p.m. and the Lethbridge Hurricanes (5-3-2) Sunday at 1:15 p.m.

The Raiders (2-4-4) are 1-3-1 on home ice after last weekend’s 7-4 win over the UFA Bisons (5-4-1) and 5-3 loss to the Grande Prairie Storm (3-3-4).
