Friday the Bellerose Bulldogs tackle the Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds in the metro Edmonton league.
The Carr division one kick off is 7:30 p.m. at Foote Field and admission is $5.
The Bulldogs are first in the Carr at 2-0 and the Thunderbirds are 0-1-1.
The Bulldogs are slotted fourth in the Football Alberta Tier I (1,250-plus students) rankings as the highest Carr team listed in the top 10 after knocking off the Salisbury Sabres (1-1), last year’s Carr champions and Tier I north finalists, 29-10 last week in St. Albert.
Tailback Tyler Feltis is averaging 8.2 yards per carry after gaining 271 yards on 33 carries for two touchdowns.
Quarterback Morgan Sherban is 23-for-29 passing for 276 yards and two TDs. He has rushed for 124 yards on 26 carries for one TD.
Slotback Seth Waselenchuk is the team’s top receiver with 10 catches for 127 yards and one TD.
Linebacker Nick Cowan is the leading tackler with 15 and is three-for-five kicking field goals.
The Paul Kane Blues grace the gridiron this week in the metro Edmonton league.
Today the junior Blues (0-1) line up against the Memorial Marauders (0-0) in pool B at 5 p.m. at Fuhr Sports Park.
Friday the senior Blues (2-0) battle the McNally Tigers (1-1) at 5 p.m. at Clarke Park and admission is $5.
The Blues are listed second in the Football Alberta Tier II (750 to 1,249 students) rankings.
Last year’s Miles champions and Tier II north finalists have outscored teams 110-0 in two wins.
Brendan Guy leads all Miles’ quarterbacks with 32 completions on 58 attempts for 435 yards and seven touchdowns.
Slotback Shaydon Phillip is the No. 1 receiver with 12 catches for 200 yards and three TDs. He also returned a punt for a TD and ran back a pick-six to pay dirt.
The ground game is spearheaded by Ty Beck (108 yards on seven carries and three TDs) and Kieran Porter (106 yards on 16 carries and one TD). Beck also has one TD catch.
Linebacker Josh Freeman and Phillip, a defensive back, share the team lead in tackles with seven.
Friday, the St. Albert High Skyhawks and W.P. Wagner Warriors hook up in the metro Edmonton league.
