The 22-0 Miners open the seven team round robin against the Akwesasne Outlawz of the Three Nations Senior Lacrosse League.

Tuesday the Miners run the floor against the Six Nations Rivermen of the Ontario Lacrosse Association and the host Tri-City Bandits.

Wednesday the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League champions battle the Nanaimo Timbermen of the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association.

Thursday’s game is against the Onondaga Redhawks of the Can-Am Senior B Lacrosse League and the round robin ends Friday against the Kahnawake Mohawks, last year’s silver medallists from the Quebec Senior Lacrosse League.

The top four teams advance to Saturday’s semifinals and the medal finals are Sunday.

The Miners are making their first national appearance after going 2-4 in 2010 at Burnaby, B.C. and 2011 at Akwesasne.

The St. Albert Men’s Soccer League hosts its annual all-star game Sunday at Riel Recreation Park.

Kickoff is 6 p.m. between Team White and Team Blue.

GSE (Green Street Elite) and SV Spurs (formerly Arsenal) will captain the all-star teams.

In the six-team table GSE (11-1-1), the two-time defending SAMSL playoff cup winners, and the Spurs (9-3-1) are ranked first and second, respectively.

Both teams will represent SAMSL at the Alberta Soccer Association Tier 3 championship next weekend at the ESA Complex.

The SAMSL playoffs start Sept. 7 and the final is Sept. 21.

The deadline to register online for the 12th annual Fall Challenge is Sept. 17 at www.events.runningroom.com.

The Sept. 21 competition on the Red Willow trails includes the 21.1-kilometre half-marathon run/walk (two laps on the trail), 10-km run/walk (one lap) and five-km run/walk.

Kingswood Park is the race venue and the start times are 8 a.m. for the half-marathon walk and 9 a.m. for the half-marathon run, 10-km run/walk and five-km run/walk.

The .5-km kids’ race goes at 11:30 a.m. and pre-registration is not required.

Last year 275 participants finished the half marathon run/walk, 10-km run/walk and five-km run/walk.

The half-marathon winner was Paul St. Amant of Bonnyville in one hour, 23 minutes and 14 seconds and the fastest female was Shannon Maisano of St. Albert at 1:27:01.
