Leduc is 8-0 and the seconds are clinging to the fourth and final playoff spot in the ERU table at 4-3-1.

The first tilt between the two sides was a decisive 60-7 Leduc victory at Ellerslie Rugby Park.

At 4 p.m. SARFC battles the Strathcona Druids in the Alberta Cup premier men’s fixtures.

The firsts are 8-1 and the Druids are 6-3.

Last month the Druids snapped the firsts’ seven-game winning streak with a 13-8 decision in Sherwood Park.

The women’s team at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club is in Grande Prairie today to play the host Sirens in the Edmonton Rugby Union division two final.

Kickoff is 4 p.m. between SARFC (3-1 in division two and 9-4 overall) and the Sirens (3-1 in division two and 7-6 overall).

SARFC is unbeaten in two matches against the Sirens with wins of 47-22 at Alpine field in the ERU spring league and 31-30 at Grande Prairie in the second division fixtures.

The winner advances to the provincial final against the Calgary Rugby Union champion next Saturday at Calgary Rugby Park.

The last women’s championship for SARFC was celebrated in 2009 when the second division Blues finished 13-1 as the ERU pennant and playoff cup winners and provincial champions.

The Stars tied for fifth at 3-4 and the Monarchs placed fourth at 4-3.

In league play the first-year Monarchs beat the Stars 22-16 in Fort McMurray

The winner will play the defending champion Calgary Gators (7-0) or the Calgary Wolfpack (5-2) next Saturday.

Last year the Stars finished 6-4 overall in their inaugural AFL campaign after losing the final 41-16 to the undefeated Gators.

Monday night the St. Albert Minor Football Association hosts a bantam jamboree at Riel Recreation Park.

The two SAMFA teams — Fury and 49ers — huddle up at 7:15 p.m. in a controlled scrimmage.

The 49ers also play the Sherwood Park Northstars at 6:30 p.m. and the Edmonton Mustangs at 8 p.m.

The Fury line up against the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. and the Northstars at 8 p.m.
