The Baseball Alberta peewee and mosquito AA Tier III provincials are underway, weather permitting, at Legion Memorial Park.

The St. Albert Blue Cardinals are hosting the weekend competitions.

The peewee tournament features the Northwest Zone, Fort Saskatchewan, Heisler and Stettler.

The mosquito tournament includes Red Deer 2, Leduc, Northeast Zone, Sherwood Park Green and South Jasper Place 2.

In Friday’s provincial opener the peewee Cardinals had games against the Northeast Zone and Heisler and the mosquito Cardinals had a date with Red Deer in pool B but heavy rain forced organizers to revamp the tournament draws.

The peewee Cardinals were originally scheduled to play Stettler today at 3 p.m. and Fort Saskatchewan at noon Sunday.

If there are no tiebreakers, the top two teams in the round robin meet at 3 p.m. Sunday for the championship.

The mosquito Cardinals also have a game today against Leduc at 3 p.m. in pool B but that could change because of Friday’s rain.

Sunday, if there are no ties in pool play, the third-place teams hook up in the 9 a.m. consolation game. The semifinals between the top two pool A and B teams are noon and 3 p.m. and the final is 6 p.m.
