In the Sunburst Baseball League the Riggers, last year’s senior AAA provincial champions who will represent Alberta at next month’s nationals, are undefeated in 16 games and the Tigers are 5-10.

Friday the Tigers play the second-place Fort Saskatchewan A’s (9-8) at 7:30 p.m. at Legion park.

Wednesday night’s junior men’s rugby doubleheader at Alpine field kicks off at 6:30 p.m. between the St. Albert and the Nor’Westers in U17.

At 8 p.m. St. Albert tackles the Clansmen in U19.

In the U17 fixtures St. Albert, the defending Edmonton Rugby Union champion, is 1-2 and the Nor’Westers are 0-3.

The U19 table lists St. Albert on top at 2-0 and the Clan is 1-1.

The junior playoffs start Aug. 13.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday St. Albert and the Strathcona Druids scrum down at Lynn Davies Rugby Park in the Edmonton Rugby Union women’s second division.

St. Albert is 2-0 in the league fixtures and 7-3 overall after last weekend’s 31-30 win over the Sirens (2-1 and 5-5 overall) in Grande Prairie.

The Druids are 1-1 and 3-7 overall.

In the ERU spring league St. Albert finished 5-3 in the nine-team table and missed the cut for the Alberta first division fixtures.

St. Albert’s last match before the Aug. 9 semifinals is July 31 versus the Rockers (1-1 and 2-8 overall) at 7 p.m. at Ellerslie Rugby Park.

The St. Albert Impact men’s teams kick the ball at Riel Recreation Park this week in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Wednesday night’s division 1B tilt between the Impact and DV Oldboys starts at 7 p.m.

The Impact trails the Oldboys by four points for the division pennant.

Thursday the Impact and Africana FC hook up at 8:30 p.m. in the premier ranks.

The Impact, AC Milan and AS Roma are battling for top spot in premier.

The St. Albert premier and second division men’s teams swing into action Saturday.

The seconds (4-3-1) host the Nor’Westers (2-4) at 12:30 p.m. at Alpine field in the Edmonton Rugby Union and the firsts (7-0) visit the Strathcona Druids (4-3) at 4 p.m. at Lynn Davies Rugby Park in the Alberta Cup fixtures.

Last weekend the seconds lost 37-5 to the Knights (4-2-1) in Fort McMurray.
