The minimum age for participants is 14 and runners can sign up as individuals or on a team in one of five heats.

The six-kilometre course consists of varying terrain with man made and natural obstacles. If runners are unable to complete a challenge they must do 20 burpees before continuing. A Hearth By-Pass is available at $5 if runners don’t want to complete their burpees. There is no limit to how many By-Passes can be purchased.

So far 180 runners have registered and the goal is to reach 500.

The course is located on 80 acres about 20 minutes west of St. Albert, near Calahoo.

The event is hosted by the West Sturgeon Aging in Place Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, and is a fundraiser for the West Country Hearth, a seniors’ living complex in Villeneuve.
