Tonight the Edmonton Rugby Union junior finals kick-off at 6:30 p.m. for the U19 males and females from the St. Albert Rugby Football Club.
The U19 males (5-0) scrum down against the Strathcona Druids (3-2) and the U19 females (5-2) tackle Nor’Westers Maroon (7-0) at Ellerslie Rugby Park.
The winner of the U19 female final will play the Calgary Irish for provincial honours Saturday at Ellerslie.
In league play the U19 males beat the Druids 34-17 and the U19 females lost the season opener 54-27 to the Nor’Westers, last year’s champions.
In the semifinals SARFC posted wins of 13-10 against the Nor’Westers (2-3) for U19 males and 39-7 against the Druids (5-2) for U19 females.
Saturday’s showdown between the Alberta Cup powerhouses in premier men’s rugby will determine first place in the division one table.
Kickoff is 4 p.m. between the fantastic firsts (9-2-1, 10 bonus points) and the Calgary Hornets (9-2, 11 BP) at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club.
The teams have combined to win the last six Labatt’s Cup provincial titles and last year SARFC stomped the Hornets 39-5 for its second championship in five years.
The third consecutive win over the Hornets after eight losses in a row was 24-19 May 30 in Calgary.
The thrills and spills at the second annual St. Albert Shake Down starts noon Sunday at the Woodlands Skateboard Park.
The BMX and skateboard competition features beginners, amateurs and advance levels of competitors.

The second annual Esso Female Hockey Fun Day in St. Albert is a free event Sunday at Go Auto Arena.
On-ice instruction to first-time female players of all ages will be offered.
Jerseys will be provided through the Esso Fun Day Program. Full equipment is required but individuals can bring what they have and organizers will try to supply the rest.
Registration is 10 to 11 a.m. in the tournament room at Servus Credit Union Place and the on-ice session is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
