The St. Albert Nordic Ski Club hosts its annual Loppet on Sunday afternoon after twice postponing the competition because of cold weather.
Online registrations ended Friday night for the classic technique event and sprint classic relays for six- to 13-year-olds.
As of Thursday 99 skiers had registered online for the classic technique portion.
The Loppet features various distances for classic technique and the relays.
The mass start time for classic technique is 2 p.m. and the relays go at 3 p.m. with mass starts for each birth year.
Bib pickups at the Kingswood shelter start at 12:30 p.m.
The puck drops Thursday for the Hockey Alberta peewee AA provincial championship in St. Albert.
The 10-team tournament features the St. Albert Saints, Cochrane Timberwolves, Fort Saskatchewan Rangers, Grande Prairie Knights and KC Lancers in pool A and the St. Albert Sabres, Blackfoot Chiefs, Strathcona Warriors, Sylvan Lake Lakers and Okotoks Oilers in pool B.
In the tournament opener the Saints play the Lancers at 10:45 a.m. at Troy Murray Arena and the Sabres face-off against Blackfoot at 1:15 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The top two teams in pools A and B qualify for Sunday’s semifinals at 8:30 a.m. at the Northstar Hyundai and Troy Murray arenas.
The final is 2:30 p.m. at Akinsdale.

A mix and mingle with fans starts at 1 p.m. and the formal program begins at 1:30 p.m. with the introduction of Mikkelson and her family by Mayor Nolan Crouse.
Mikkelson, 29, is scheduled to speak at 1:45 p.m., followed by a video of her accomplishments.
From 2 to 3 p.m. Mikkelson will sign autographs and pose for pictures. Hockey cards of Mikkelson will be distributed for signing.
In the epic gold-medal game against the United States at the Sochi 2014 Winter Games the Team Canada defenceman played 21:44 minutes and assisted on Canada’s first goal of the game despite a broken right hand suffered in a collision with Hayley Wickenheiser in practice prior to the semifinals.
Canada rallied from a three-goal deficit to beat the Americans 3-2 in overtime.
Mikkelson was one of 12 returning players from the 2-0 win over the Americans in the 2010 Olympic final in Vancouver.
