The winner plays Belmead Rebels/Araqiel (13-1 in division 3D) or the Riverbend Ruckus (11-1-2) Monday to determine the No. 1 and No. 2 EDSA teams at provincials, Sept. 4 to 6 in Calgary.

The Impact are the No. 1 seed in the playdowns after placing first in the division 3A table (14-1, 66 GF/12 GA) as the top team overall out of 32 division three clubs.

Highlighting Thursday’s bantam jamboree in the Capital District Minor Football Association is the Fury versus 49ers controlled scrimmage at 7:15 p.m. at Confederation Park.

The Fury, last year’s undefeated CDMFA bantam Tier 3 champions, also play the Fort Saskatchewan Lightning at 6:30 p.m. and Sherwood Park Northstars at 8 p.m.

The 49ers line up against the Northstars at 6:30 p.m. and Camrose Buffaloes at 8 p.m.

The jamboree consists of 30-minute games with no kicking and special teams.

The Fury and 49ers are also co-hosting the Aug. 30 jamboree at Riel Recreation Park.

The St. Albert Minor Hockey Association’s annual equipment swap goes Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Akinsdale Arena parking lot.

Gently used hockey equipment of all sizes can be dropped off at the SAMHA office inside the arena this week, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Equipment must be clean and in good working order, with no rips, tears or cracks. Jerseys, socks and personal protection apparel will not be accepted but sticks are welcomed.

Equipment left over will be donated to Brick Sports Central to refurbish.

The fastest game on ice is on display Saturday, when the St. Albert Ringette Association hosts its Come Try Ringette event at Go Auto Arena.

Qualified instructors and on-ice volunteers will guide participants through drills and games suitable for all skill levels. Skates, gloves and certified helmet are required but sticks and rings are provided.

The event is free but pre-registration is mandatory at www.cometryringette.com.

On-site registration is 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. and the on-ice session is 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
