The midget AA Blues and Crusaders wrap up their December schedules with two games in four days in the Northern Alberta Hockey League.
Today the Blues (12-3) visit the Wainwright Polar Kings (4-7-5) at 1 p.m. and the Crusaders (12-5-1) are in Spruce Grove to play the PAC Saints (10-5-3) at 2:45 p.m. at Tri Leisure Centre.
Tuesday the Blues host the Maple Leafs (7-7-2) at Mark Messier Arena and the Crusaders entertain the Sherwood Park Oilers (7-4-5) at Go Auto Arena. Start times are 8:30 p.m.
The Blues and Crusaders are the top teams in the Anderson and Besa divisions, respectively, in the Metro conference.
Both teams are 4-2 in their last six games.
In league scoring, Zach Carlson of the Blues is tied for sixth with 27 points in 16 games and Kiegan Miller of the Crusaders is tied for seventh with 26 points in 17 games.
The bantam elite St. Albert Raiders skate into this weekend’s homestand as winners of eight in a row in the Alberta Female Hockey League.
The north division leading Raiders (10-2) face-off against the North Central Impact (6-6) at 8:30 p.m. tonight at Mark Messier Arena and Sunday’s game time is 1:30 p.m. against the Olds Grizzlys (9-3) at Go Auto Arena.
League play for the Raiders resumes Jan. 7.
Meanwhile, the Raiders have allowed the second-fewest goals in the league at 14, one less than Calgary Fire Red (8-1-2), the top south division team, with Holly Borrett (4-1, 0.88 GAA) and Elle Boyko (6-1, 1.31 GAA) in net.
The motto for the third annual Slash Alumni Event is Tradition Never Graduates, as past and present St. Albert midget AAA female hockey players unite Monday at Go Auto Arena.
At 6:45 p.m. alumni and Slash players will mentor peewee females during a session of drills and skills, followed by a brief scrimmage for the younger skaters.
The alumni game between Team Blue and Team Gold begins at 8 p.m.
Last year Team Gold (alumni) won 11-6 and in the shootout it was 16-9.
The reunion featured Slash players ranging from the first 2004/05 team to the 2015/16 lineup in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.
The current Slash (14-0-1) team is competing in the inaugural Alberta Female Hockey League.
The event is sponsored by the 2011 Esso Cup Legacy Fund.
