Meanwhile, the Sturgeon women play at the home of the Holy Trinity Trojans today at 5 p.m. in division two pool B action.

The bantam elite St. Albert Raiders face-off against the Sherwood Park Royals tonight in the Alberta Female Hockey League.

Puck drop is 8:15 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.

The Raiders (7-2) and Royals (7-2-1) are within striking distance of the first-place Lloydminster Steelers (7-2-2) in the north division.

The fifth win in a row for the Raiders was Saturday’s 6-0 shutout of the Rocky Mountain Raiders (3-7-1) in Okotoks.

Holly Borrett (3-1, 1.13 GAA) stopped 16 shots and Natalie Kieser, Mikayla Sarapuk, Libby Langenhahn, Elleson Rezewski, Jessica Kormysh and Bronwyn Boucher scored. Regan Ackroyd and Robyn Short each had two assists.

This weekend the Raiders are in Grande Prairie for two games against the Peace Country Storm (1-7-2).

The next home game for the surging Morinville Kings is Saturday against the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the North Central Senior Hockey League.

Game time is 8:30 p.m. at Ray McDonald Sports Centre.

The 10-3 Kings are ranked fourth in the 10-team senior AA circuit and Bonnyville (11-2-1) and the Devon Barons share first place at 11-2-1.

The Kings are winners of four straight and seven of their last eight games after last weekend’s road victories of 5-2 against Devon and 7-3 against the Eckville Eagles (7-6).

Thomas Brennan and Cole Cavell led the Kings in scoring during the weekend sweep with five points apiece.

Cavell struck twice in a 22-second span in the third period in Devon to make it 3-1 as the Kings rattled off four consecutive goals before the Barons replied with 5:38 to play.

Brennan potted a pair in Eckville after collecting three assists in Devon.

Brennan is the team’s top scorer with 22 points in 13 games and Cavell is second with 10 goals and 20 points in 11 games.

Ty Swabb (7-2, 3.43 GAA) stopped a game-high 39 shots in Devon and Ty Clelland (3-1, 5.31 GAA) faced 37 shots in Eckville.
