The fourth-place Stars are 4-3 after losing 19-6 to the third-place Central Alberta Buccaneers (5-2) last weekend in Lacombe.

The Bucs took the opening kickoff and threw a touchdown pass.

The Stars scored late in the game against the penalty-riddled Bucs.

Next Saturday in St. Albert the Stars huddle up against the Grande Prairie Drillers (3-4) or the Edmonton Stallions (3-4) in the opening playoff round.

In league play the Stars beat the Drillers 17-3 in Grande Prairie and the Stallions 45-3 in Edmonton.

Last year the Stars finished 3-5 overall after losing their playoff opener.

Sunday is the registration deadline for the St. Albert U9 and U10 Future Stars junior tennis tournament next Saturday at the Mission courts.

The tournament is open to boys and girls and everyone is guaranteed a minimum of three matches.

The St. Albert Minor Hockey Association's annual equipment swap is next Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Akinsdale Arena parking lot.

If it rains, the equipment will be moved under the overhang at the arena's main entrance.

Gently used hockey equipment of any size can be dropped off at the SAMHA office inside the arena from Monday to Friday, between 1 and 4 p.m.

Equipment must be clean and in good working order with no rips, tears or cracks.

Jerseys, socks and personal protection apparel will not be accepted but sticks are welcomed.

Left-over equipment will be donated to Brick Sports Central to refurbish.

The St. Albert Ringette Association is hosting a Come Try Ringette event next Saturday at Go Auto Arena.

Qualified instructors and on-ice volunteers will assist participants through various drills and games that are suitable for all skill levels. New skaters are also welcomed.

All you need to attend are skates, gloves and a certified helmet. Sticks and rings are provided.

The event is free but pre-registration is required through www.cometryringette.com.

On-site registration is from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. and the session runs from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
