The Bellerose Bulldogs and Bev Facey Falcons huddle up in the Tier I provincial north semifinals today at Foote Field.

Kickoff is 2:30 p.m.

It’s the first provincial game for the Bulldogs since the Bellerose football team was formed in 1998 after the breakup of the Bellerose-based St. Albert Storm.

Facey (9-0) is No. 1 and the Bulldogs (5-4) are No. 9 in the Tier I (1,250-plus students) Football Alberta rankings.

The winner plays the Harry Ainlay Titans (8-1) or Notre Dame Cougars (8-1) of Red Deer in the Nov. 19 north final.

Facey is 76-0 in its last two games and the Bulldogs are coming off their fourth win in the last five games, a come-from-behind 32-21 decision against the Spruce Grove Panthers (5-3-1) in the Tier I qualifier.

Facey beat the Bulldogs 45-1 in the Carr conference division one season opener in the metro Edmonton league.

The Paul Kane Blues tackle the Lloydminster Barons in the Tier II provincial north semifinals today at Johnny Bright Park.

Kickoff is 1:30 p.m.

The winner lines up against the Austin O’Brien Crusaders (4-3-1) or St. Joseph’s Celtics (10-1) of Grande Prairie in the Nov. 19 north final.

Lloydminster (6-3), the Wheatland league finalist, is No. 7 and Paul Kane (1-6-1) is No. 10 in the Tier II (750 to 1,249 students) Football Alberta rankings.

Paul Kane finished seventh out of nine teams in the Carr conference as one of two metro Edmonton Tier II teams in the division one standings.

The St. Albert High Skyhawks battle the Peace Wapiti Academy Titans of Grande Prairie in the Tier III provincial north semifinals today at Johnny Bright Park.

Kickoff is 11 a.m.

The winner hosts the Sylvan Lake Lakers (8-0-1) or Holy Rosary Raiders (10-0) of Lloydminster in the Nov. 19 north final.

The Titans (5-4) are sixth and the Skyhawks (3-5) are seventh in the Tier III (450 to 749 students) Football Alberta rankings.

The Tier III playoff marks the first game for both teams in two weeks. The Titans lost the Mighty Peace league semifinal 45-7 to the St. Joseph’s Celtics and the Skyhawks were shutout 26-0 by the Strathcona Lords in the Miles conference division two semifinals.

Last year the Skyhawks, the only metro Edmonton Tier III team in the Miles, lost the north final to Holy Rosary.
