The 12-team women’s division swings into action at 12:15 p.m. The Wolves play Edwin Parr of Athabasca in pool A at Morinville and the Skyhawks, the defending champions face-off against the Camrose Trojans at the SkyDome.

The 12-team men’s division begins at 1:15 p.m. with the Wolves against Edwin Parr in pool A and the Skyhawks against the Trojans in pool B.

The first men’s match for the Paul Kane Blues in pool B at the SkyDome is 10 a.m. Friday against Barrhead Gryphons, followed by the 1:30 p.m. match against the Skyhawks.

The playoffs start Saturday at 12:45 p.m. and the championship and consolation finals are 5:30 p.m. at the SkyDome for the women and Morinville for the men.

The St. Albert 50-plus Mixed Curling League is back on the ice for another season of sweeping action.

Today’s draw times are 9 and 11:30 a.m.

The Friday morning two-person stick league has games scheduled for 9, 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Monday’s mixed draws are 9 and 11:30 a.m.

By popular demand, the 50-plus league added an extra draw on Wednesdays and a fourth draw in the Friday stick league.

The season runs from October to the Christmas break and January to March.

Meanwhile, the 2017 Jiffy Lube Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be staged in St. Albert from January 25 to 29. Visit the club’s website for volunteer and ticket details.

The puck drops this weekend for the St. Albert teams in the Alberta Female Hockey League midget elite and bantam elite divisions.

The midget elite Sharks host the Rocky Mountain Raiders at 7:45 p.m. Saturday and Calgary Fire White at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Go Auto Arena.

The bantam elite Raiders skate Saturday against the Edmonton Pandas at 10:30 a.m. at Bill Hunter Arena and Sunday against the Lloydminster Steelers at 3:30 p.m. in the Border City.
