Tonight’s division two matches are Gini’s (8-5-1) versus the Pink Ladies (2-11-2) and Snipe (4-11) versus Mavericks 95 (2-10-3) at 6:30 p.m. at Forest Park field.

The winners advance to Sunday’s semifinals against Cosmos FC (14-0), last year’s division one semifinalists, and the Devils (11-4) at 6:30 p.m. at Forest Park.

The division one playoffs kicked off Tuesday but the score between the Lady Titans (2-7-3) and St. Albert Blaze (1-10-1) was unavailable at press time.

The winner challenges Mavericks 09 (12-0) in Sunday’s semifinals and the other pairing features the Morinville Ladies (6-4-2) against the Kickers (5-5-2). Game times are 5 p.m. at Forest Park.

The finals are Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. at Forest Park.

Last year Mavericks 09 (16-0) repeated as division one champions in the 6-2 decision against Morinville (12-3-1) and the Blaze (9-6-1) won its second final in a row with a 1-0 result against Mavericks 95 (6-9-2).

Online registration for the 14th annual St. Albert Fall Challenge ends Friday at www.events.runningroom.com.

The latest confirmation totals were 109 runners and walkers for Sunday’s 21.1-kilometre half-marathon, 10 km and five km on the Red Willow trails.

The start times at the Kingswood Park venue are 8 a.m. for the half-marathon walk and 9 a.m. for the half-marathon run, 10-km run/walk and five-km run/walk.

Pre-registration is not required for the .5-km kids’ loop at 11:30 a.m.

The Fall Challenge is hosted by the Sturgeon Valley Athletic Club.

Behiels, a former Merchant, assumes the coaching reins from Scott Rodda, who stepped down after three seasons to join the team’s board of directors.
