The joint will be jumping today at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club, with four matches scheduled and all three SARFC teams on the pitch.

SARFC has won its last five matches and is undefeated in 16 contests against a north team in league and playoffs combined, dating back to August of 2014. The streak includes victories against the Nor’Westers of 28-19 in the 2015 Ken Ann Cup north final and 50-35 in the league opener this year.

The St. Albert Miners host the Calgary Mountaineers this weekend in the best-of-three senior B provincial lacrosse final.

Start times are 8 p.m. tonight and 2 p.m. Sunday at Go Auto Arena.

Game three, if needed, is Aug. 20 at 8 p.m. at Max Bell Arena.

The Miners are competing in the team’s third consecutive provincial final and its last provincial title in 2014 was the team’s third in six years.

The Miners are also the host team for the Presidents’ Cup national championship, Aug. 24 to Sept. 4 in Leduc and the Mountaineers will join them as the Alberta reps after knocking off the Rockyview Knights of Airdrie, last year’s provincial winners, in four games in the best-of-five semifinals.

The Miners are winners of 18 league and playoff games in a row after starting the season with a 7-7 draw against the Knights.

In league play, the Miners finished 15-0-1 and the Mountaineers were 8-6-2.

The Miners beat the Mountaineers 10-4 in St. Albert and 7-2 in Calgary in the season series.
