The 11th place St. Albert squad fell to the sixth place Sharks with a final score of 24-37. St. Albert (1-5-0) will face the Cold Lake Penguins (1-4-0) who sit in last place in the league, with only one win and six points. The game kicks off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 at the St. Albert Rugby Club.

The Junior Cardinals (3-7-0) are playing their mid season game on Wednesday night against the Barrhead Orioles (7-4-0). The Cardinals are sitting at eighth place in the league and hoping to pick up some extra points against the third place Orioles. The red birds are eager to bounce back after a big 3-10 loss to the fourth place Sherwood Park Athletics (5-3-0) in June. The last time the two teams faced off was in the season opener, where the Cardinals fell 1-6 to the competition. The teams meet on Wednesday, July 6 at 7:15 in Barrhead for a rematch.

The men and women Impact teams are hitting the field this week at Riel Park. The Impact division 1B men’s team (2-5-0) is facing off against the AC Milan (2-4-1) for the mid season matchup. In May the Impact fell to AC Milan 0-1 and are hoping to win the second meeting of the teams this season. The Impact kick off Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m. for their home game in Riel Park.

The Impact division 2A women are also anticipating continuing their winning streak this week against the Ice-Lodhar. The home team is searching for their ninth win in a row against the last place team. The Ice are coming off of a blowout loss of 4-1 against FC Magic, while the Impact currently sit 10 points ahead of the second place team in the standings. Melanie Seidel of the Impact is leading the league in goals with a total of eight and may continue to rack up points Thursday, July 7 at 7 p.m. at Riel Park in St. Albert against the Ice.

The Alberta Football league will be hosting some action in St. Albert this week with the St. Albert Stars football team facing off against the last place Grand Prairie Drillers. The Stars (1-2-0) have won just one game this season and are hoping to pick up another win against the winless Drillers. The action starts Saturday, July 9 at 3 p.m. at Riel Recreation Park.
