The Edmonton Rugby Union U13 boys’ festival kicks off at 10:45 a.m. and the Alberta Cup match between the SARFC premier men and Calgary Irish starts at 1 p.m.

SARFC is 3-1 after last week’s 52-22 thrashing of the Calgary Saints (1-3). The halftime score was 35-8.

The Irish (0-4) are last in the nine-team table.

The next match for the Labatt’s Cup provincial champions the last two years is July 16 against the Calgary Canucks (3-2) at 4 p.m. at SARFC.

The 33rd annual Tigers Baseball Association tournament continues this weekend after Friday’s games on the Landrex and Active Physioworks diamonds at Legion Memorial Park.

The St. Albert Tigers are competing in the Waples division against the Red Deer Riggers, Parkland White Sox and Calgary Longhorns and the Young division features the Edmonton Blue Willow Angels, Cold Lake Cardinals, Confederation Park Cubs and the 2015 provincial senior AAA champion Sherwood Park Athletics.

Friday’s scores between the Tigers versus Calgary and Cubs versus Athletics were unavailable at press time.

The next home game for the senior B St. Albert Miners in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League is Monday against the Edmonton Warriors.

Start time is 8 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.

The Miners (10-0-1) are winners of 10 in a row and the Warriors (5-5-1) have lost three times to the host team for the Presidents’ Cup national championship by scores of 14-5, 13-4 and 7-2

The Miners are coming off a 15-6 win over the Beaumont Outlaws (2-8) in St. Albert.

Richard Lachlin led the attack with four goals and two assists.

Keegan Bal recorded two goals and five assists, Graedon Cornfield had two goals and three assists and Darren Kinnear added one goal and four assists.

Nationals are Aug. 29 to Sept. 4 in Leduc.
