The Grey Cup will be on display at Servus Credit Union Place on Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the upper floor in front of Go Auto Arena.
Fans are asked to bring their smartphones or cameras and have their picture taken with the Canadian Football League championship trophy.
The Grey Cup was donated by Earl Grey, the Governor General of Canada, and was first presented to the 1909 champion University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
Eskimos fullback Calvin McCarty will be available for autographs and president and CEO, Len Rhodes, will also be on hand to celebrate the team’s 14th Grey Cup in franchise history.
The event is free, however donations of new unwrapped toys are being accepted for the St. Albert Kinettes Christmas Hamper.
The St. Albert Skyhawks can make it two wins in a row in metro Edmonton division two pool B men’s basketball Thursday against the Memorial Marauders.
Tipoff is 5 p.m. at the SkyDome.
The Skyhawks won their league opener 53-48 against the St. Peter The Apostle Spartans last week in Spruce Grove.
The Skyhawks finished 3-6 overall in league play last season.
The St. Albert Royals wrap up their December schedule this weekend in the Rural & Edmonton Midget 15 AA Hockey League.
The Royals (4-6-5) play the Strathcona Warriors (4-7-3) Friday at Troy Murray Arena and the Senators (11-3-3) Saturday in Sherwood Park. Game times are 8:30 p.m.
Brett Price and Darrien Wesley lead the team in points with 11 apiece and Price is the top goal scorer with six in 15 games.
The last home game for the Morinville Kings before the Christmas break in the North Central Senior AA Hockey League is Saturday against the Westlock Warriors.
Puck drop is 8:30 p.m. at Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
The Kings (5-6-1) are third and Westlock is fifth in the north division.
Last weekend the Kings lost 7-3 to the second-place Tofield Satelites (10-1) in a fight-filled affair in Morinville and 7-2 against the first-place Bonnyville Pontiacs (11-1) with a depleted lineup on the road.
Riley Miller, Joshua Lafleche and Ashton Pietersma scored against Tofield. Shots were 47-44 for the Kings and Chris Sharkey was in net.
Jamie Johnson potted both goals in Bonnyville. The Kings were outshot 65-25 and Sharkey (5-5, 4.07 GAA) was named the game’s third star.
