Thursday’s metro Edmonton high school women’s soccer matches kick-off at 4:15 p.m. in St. Albert.
The Paul Kane Blues (2-0) play the Bellerose Bulldogs (0-1) at Riel Park and the St. Albert Skyhawks (1-0), last year’s division two champions, and Sturgeon Spirits (0-2) meet at Forest Park Field.
The division two pool B teams had matches scheduled earlier in the week but scores were unavailable at press time.
Playoffs start May 18 with the round of 16.
Saturday’s tripleheader at the Nor’Westers is the season opener for the St. Albert Rugby Football Club men’s and women’s teams.
Kickoff times are 12 noon for the division one women against Crude/West, 2 p.m. for the third division men and Nor’Westers and 4 p.m. for the premier men and Nor’Westers.
The SARFC women are competing in the Edmonton Rugby Union’s new division one format after going 7-2 in the ERU spring league and 2-4 in Alberta division one last year.
The third division men finished 12-3 as the ERU Visser Cup and provincial Digby Dinnie Cup champions.
The 14-2-1 premier men three-peated as the Ken Ann Cup north playoff winners and repeated as the provincial Labatt’s Cup champions.
Meanwhile, SARFC announced its inaugural Turkey Fest Sevens is Oct. 8-9. Divisions are men’s open, women’s open and U16 and U18 youth.

The next home match for the senior B St. Albert Miners is Saturday in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
Ball drop is 8 p.m. against the Calgary Raiders at Go Auto Arena.
The Miners settled for a 7-7 draw in their league lid-lifter against the 2015 provincial champion Rockyview Knights of Airdrie and the Raiders lost 22-3 to the Knights.
The Miners are the host team for the Presidents’ Cup nationals Aug. 29 to Sept. 4 in Leduc.
Online registrations for the WildOnes MaraFun ended with 612 youths four to 12 years old confirmed for the sixth annual Leading Edge RunWild.
Sunday’s event at Lions Park begins with the warm-up program at 11 a.m. and the race times are 11:30 a.m. for Grades K-2, 11:45 a.m. for Grades 3-4 and 12 noon for Grades 5-6.
Students will complete the last 1.6 kilometres of their own 42-km marathon, which started at their schools by running or walking one km at a time prior to RunWild.
