The 18th annual Spirit of the North, hosted by the Desa School of Karate, wraps up today with a tournament for individuals below black-belts at Go Auto Arena.
Admission is free.
A board-breaking demonstration and back-belt tournament was held Friday.
The Desa School of Karate, located in Riel Park, provides instruction in traditional Okinawan karate under the direction of Sensei Manual deSa, a seventh-degree black belt.
The fourth North Central Alberta Baseball League season for the St. Albert Junior Cardinals starts Sunday at Legion Memorial Park.
The first pitch is 2 p.m. against the Barrhead Orioles.
Last year the Cardinals finished at the bottom of the 10-team standings at 4-14 after going 8-12 in 2014.
Sunday’s match between the St. Albert Impact division 1B women and ASC Inter kicks-off at 6 p.m. at the ESA Complex.
The Impact are 1-0 and ASC has two ties in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.
The first of only two home matches for the St. Albert Rangers this season at Riel Park kicks-off Monday in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.
Start time is 7 p.m. against the Edmonton Warriors (1-1) in the division 1A fixtures.
The Rangers are 1-1 after the 3-0 win over Man City (1-1) this week at the Victoria High School. Jon Mark opened the scoring and Giordano Morgulis tallied twice.
The St. Albert Impact premier women make their home debut Tuesday in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.
Kickoff is 7 p.m. against Northwest United (2-0) at Riel Park.
The Impact’s second win of the season was 2-1 against Xavier Academy this week at the ESA Complex.
Xavier (0-2) scored in the 10th minute the Impact replied with goals by Mikaela Donnelly before halftime and Amy Byrne late in the match despite a red card that left the team short a player for the last 75 minutes.
Tuesday’s matches in the St. Albert Men’s Soccer League are scheduled for Salisbury Field at 7 p.m.
Prestige Worldwide plays the Forest Park Rangers and Chester City hooks up with SA City.
Thursday’s match features GSE, winners of the SAMSL playoff cup the last four years, and Magnitude FC at 7 p.m. at Salisbury Field.
League play kicked off last Sunday with all six teams in action.
