The St. Albert Mustangs Track and Field Club starts its outdoor training Monday for athletes eight to 18 years old at Fowler Athletic Park.

The annual St. Albert Challenge is May 28-29 and this year it’s the host meet for the tyke, peewee and bantam provincials. It’s also the selection meet for the Zone 5 (Black Gold/Yellowhead) and Zone 6 (Edmonton) teams for the Alberta Summer Games, July 14 to 17 in Leduc.

Monday the Bellerose Bulldogs tackle the Jasper Place Rebels in metro Edmonton men’s rugby.

Kickoff is 4:45 p.m. at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club.

Bellerose won its division two/three pool B season opener 54-0 against the Memorial Marauders and the Rebels fell 39-15 to the Sturgeon Spirits, last year’s division two champions and Tier 2 provincial bronze medallists who finished 8-1 overall.

Bellerose is back on the pitch Thursday in league play against the Paul Kane Blues for the Gareth Jones Cup. Kickoff is 6:15 p.m. at SARFC.

Paul Kane won the last two St. Albert showdowns in 2015 and 2013 and Bellerose was the inaugural 2012 champion.

The home opener for the St. Albert Drillers in junior female lacrosse is Monday against the Sherwood Park Senior Titans.

Start time is 9 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The Drillers are winless in two games after losses of 12-0 against the Capital Region Saints of Edmonton and 17-3 against the Beaumont Senior Bandits.

The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League interlocking schedule consists of six junior and four senior female teams.

Registrations are being accepted for the annual Tigers Camp for male and female rally cap to peewee players.

The St. Albert Tigers are hosting the June 4 skill and knowledge sessions at Legion Memorial Park.

The times are 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for rally cap players and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the rookie to peewee players.

The $20 registration fee includes a lunch and T-shirt.

Autographs are free from the senior AAA Tigers.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are up to bat Friday in the Sunburst Baseball League opener against the Parkland White Sox. The first pitch is 6:45 p.m. at Henry Singer Park in Spruce Grove.
