The Midget AAA Cardinals are beginning to wrap up their season this weekend by playing six of their final games at Legion Memorial Ball Park. The games start with a double-header July 18 at 1 p.m. against the Calgary Rockies who sit in fourth place. Their second game immediately follows and is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. This will be the first time the ninth place Cardinals face off against the Rockies this season. Another double-header for the Cardinals will be held at Legion Memorial Park on July 19. This time they face the fifth place Strathmore Reds at 10 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. This is also the first time these two teams face each other during the regular season. Their final regular season game of the year will be on July 22 against the Sherwood Park Athletics at Legion Memorial Park. They have faced off one time this season when the Cardinals were defeated 9-3.
The St. Albert Sr. Miners have finished the regular season and are heading into playoffs this weekend. Their first series will pit the second place Miners against the fourth place Calgary Trojan Sr. Raiders. During the regular season, the teams squared off twice and the Miners won both contests. The first round will be a best of five series where three wins will advance the victors to next level. The series opens this July 18 at 6 p.m. at Servus Place with the second game the next day on July 19 at 2 p.m. at Servus Place.
The Bantam AAA Cardinals are starting the final push for the playoffs and hoping to score some extra points this weekend. The Cardinals sit at seventh place and are hoping to come out of the weekend with three wins before playoffs start. They begin this weekend with a double header at Legion Memorial Park against the Spruce Grove White Sox who sit in sixth place. The teams have faced off once already this season with the Sox coming out on top of a close 2-0 contest. The first game on July 18 will start at 1 p.m. with the second one following at 4 p.m. On July 19 the Cardinals continue their weekend run, this time against the South Place Jasper Jays at 11 a.m. This will be the second meeting of the season between the seventh place red birds and the tenth place Jays. The Cardinals lost the first contest against the Jays on opening day 12-2.
