The St. Albert SLAM are represented by six Edmonton Youth Basketball Association teams at the Youth Provincial Championships this weekend at the Saville Community Sports Centre.
The midget A girls (Stanley), mini A girls (Malchuk) and mini B boys (Wangler) are the No. 1 EYBA seeds, the bantam A boys (MacKinnon) are the No. 2 EYBA seed and the midget B boys (Perry) and midget B girls (Perlette) are the No. 3 EYBA seeds in the tournament.

The SLAM midget A girls are 20-0 in league play and 23-0 overall after defeating SBA Caldwell 58-40 in last week’s EYBA final.
Last year’s midget A team finished 20-0 overall as the EYBA and provincial champions and this year’s roster features five retuning players, including six players – Bella Cuciz, Victoria Ivicak, Kaitlyn Kluttig, Aine Murphy, Ella Stanley and Kenzie Thera – striving for their third provincial title and third undefeated season as graduates of the 2014 SLAM bantam A provincial gold medallists. The SLAM girls are currently 61-0 during that span.
The mini A girls (Malchuk), mini C girls (Greven), mini B boys (Wangler), mini C boys (Fischer) and midget G boys (Marano) also won their division finals.
The bantam A boys (MacKinnon) and bantam F boys (Jeffrey) finished second and the bantam D girls (Steele) and midget B boys (Perry) placed third in the playoffs.

The men’s, women’s and mixed playoffs sweep into action next week at the St. Albert Curling Club.
The women’s Manager’s Cup final is March 23 at 6:30 p.m., the President’s Cup and Manager’s Cup mixed finals are March 29 at 7:30 p.m. and the men’s and women’s President’s Cup and men’s Manager’s Cup finals are March 30 at 6:30 p.m.
The President’s Cup winners advance to the 53rd annual Edmonton and area Tournament of Champions next month at the Edmonton Garrison Memorial Golf & Curling Club.
Meanwhile, Doug McLennan will be inducted in the club’s wall of fame in the Friendly Giant Lounge next Saturday at 8 p.m.
McLennan will join Hec Gervais, Jackie Rae Greening, Dan Holowaychuk, Cathy King, Marc Kennedy, Don McKenzie and Scott Pfeifer on the wall of fame.
The ceremony is part of the Curlers & Sponsor Appreciation Night at the club. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the event includes live music.
