The St. Albert Physical Education Council junior high Tier 1 basketball finals tip-off Thursday at the SkyDome.
Game times are 5:30 p.m. for the girls and 7 p.m. for the boys.
Tuesday’s semifinals featured the top four teams in both divisions: Richard S. Fowler Falcons (6-0) versus ESSMY Leopards (3-4) and Lorne Akins Gators (6-1) versus Morinville Wolves (5-2) for the girls and Lorne Akins (8-0) versus Morinville (5-3) and Vincent J. Maloney Marauders (7-1) versus Sir George Simpson Voyageurs (6-2) for the boys. Scores were unavailable at press time.
Lorne Akins swept the city finals last year.
The lady Falcons received a quarter-final bye as the top team in the seven-team standings. They have lost two games overall and both were against Lorne Akins in tournaments. Lorne Akins is 22-1 overall and the Falcons were the only team to beat them, 42-38 in the last league game before the playoffs.
The puck drops Thursday at the Hockey Alberta peewee A female provincials in St. Albert.
The 10-team tournament is hosted by the St. Albert Hit, last year’s champion.
In pool A, the Hit skates Thursday against the Calgary Jets at 6:30 p.m. at Mark Messier Arena, Friday against the Lloydminster Blazers at 11:45 a.m. at Mark Messier and Grande Prairie Knights at 6:30 p.m. at Go Auto Arena and Saturday against the Strathcona Stars at 4:15 p.m. at Mark Messier.
Pool B features the Okotoks Oilers, Red Deer Chiefs, Sherwood Park Force and Calgary Kaos.
The semifinals are 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Mark Messier and 9:45 a.m. at Go Auto and the final is 3:15 p.m. at Go Auto.

The Hit are 24-7-4 this season.
The best-of-five playoff between the St. Albert Slash and Sherwood Park Fury starts tonight in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.
Faceoff is 7:30 p.m. in Sherwood Park.
Game two is 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Sherwood Park and game three is 8:15 p.m. Monday at Go Auto Arena.
If needed, game four is March 17 at 8:15 p.m. at Go Auto and the date and time for game five in Sherwood Park was unavailable at press time.
The Fury (21-5-6) are second and the Slash (10-16-6) are seventh in the playoff bracket.
The Slash are 0-4 in league play against the Fury, including three losses while going 0-5 in February.
