The Sabres (22-5-6) are second in the nitro north division, nine points back of the first-place Sherwood Park Flyers (29-2-1), the top team in the AMBHL.
The Saints (12-16-4) and Heat (11-15-6) share third place and Leduc (10-17-4) is fourth in the charger north division.
The Sabres closed out January with a 4-1-2 record after losing 2-0 to the Flyers in St. Albert.
The best-of-three opening playoff round between the Sabres and third-place SSAC Southgate Lions (18-9-4) in the nitro standings starts Feb. 16.

The St. Albert D team runs the floor at 8:30 a.m. against the Edmonton Dynamos, 10:30 a.m. against the Edmonton Clashing Dragons and 1:30 p.m. against the Grande Prairie Oilers.

The Morinville Kings staved off elimination in the North Central Senior AA Hockey League playoffs Sunday in Tofield.
The Kings beat the hometown Satellities 5-2 after losses of 7-1 in Tofield on Jan. 23 and 7-5 Saturday in Morinville in the best-of-five north division semifinal.
Game four is 8:30 p.m. at Ray McDonald Sports Centre and game five, if needed is 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Tofield.
The winner plays the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the best-of-five north final.
The Pontiacs (15-1), Satellites (11-4-1) and Kings (8-7-1) finished one-two-three, respectively, in the north standings.
In league play, the Satellites and Kings split their two-game series with road wins.
